The time was given to UC04. We had 2 rotator controller failures tonight, at 21:40 and again at 06:00 The second failure was quickly recovered from however the first failure required help from Fritz to get us back on the sky. Second half the clouds became too thick for observing for about an hour then it was rough going for the rest of the night as we kept loosing the object and/or the guide star. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC04 D T/H 21:40 21:55 Rot axis halted, controller error UV02 D T/H --:-- --:-- Rot axis halted, controller error ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:37 dis-slit -213(-271) 6 77 2.8 4.9 4.7 3.5 3.1 -- 1.16 18:41 NA2gdr 1749(23749) 3 77 3.1 4.9 4.7 3.4 3.1 R+nd2 0.80 21:43 dis-slit -94(-193) 85 41 4.3 3.5 4.0 2.7 3.6 -- 1.56 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 41 9 13 308 (NW) 658 clear none 17:00 41 8 5 275 (W) 661 clear none 18:00 41 7 13 13 (NNE) 783 clear none 19:00 38 7 12 15 (NNE) 684 ptly cldy none 20:00 39 2 15 43 (NE) 619 ptly cldy none 21:00 41 -2 11 352 (N) 609 clear none 22:00 40 -7 17 16 (NNE) 590 clear none 23:00 40 -5 13 12 (NNE) 589 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 -5 2 13 (NNE) 549 mstly clr none 01:00 38 0 12 339 (NNW) 634 ptly cldy none 02:00 39 0 16 324 (NW) 600 ptly cldy none 03:00 39 3 16 323 (NW) 673 mstly cldy none 04:00 38 5 11 328 (NNW) 742 mstly cldy none 05:00 38 4 15 324 (NW) 707 mstly cldy none 06:00 37 3 11 310 (NW) 573 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
