Around midnight the clouds started to appear over head and got steadily worse until the skies became opaque from 0300 until 0500 when we reopened. At a little after 0600 the rotator halted with a controller error. I was able to recover quickly however a 12 minute exposure was lost due to trailing stars. A report was sent to Fritz. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SAEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU06 S T/H 06:06 06:08 Rot axis halted, controller error ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:37 ECHELLE -195(-1075) 3 48 0.4 4.1 3.6 2.8 1.2 nd2 1.56 19:40 dis-slit -149(-386) -10 80 -0.5 1.3 1.1 0.1 0.0 -- 1.89 19:54 NA2gdr -1921(20078) -142 60 0.2 1.1 0.9 -0.2 0.0 clear 1.19 00:32 SPICAM 7( -138) -148 51 0.1 -0.2 0.1 -0.5 -0.2 r 1.37 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 41 12 8 271 (W) 1546 mstly clr none 17:00 42 11 12 235 (SW) 1339 mstly clr none 18:00 38 7 8 262 (W) 1127 mstly clr none 19:00 35 6 5 262 (W) 1124 clear none 20:00 33 4 6 180 (S) 1105 clear none 21:00 33 5 12 177 (S) 1154 clear none 22:00 33 5 15 195 (SSW) 1175 mstly clr none 23:00 32 8 14 199 (SSW) 1335 ptly cldy none 00:00 33 8 15 201 (SSW) 1559 cloudy none 01:00 33 9 12 192 (SSW) 1670 cloudy none 02:00 32 8 13 210 (SSW) 2300 cloudy none 03:00 32 10 13 228 (SW) 2051 cloudy none 04:00 32 10 12 241 (WSW) 1912 cloudy none 05:00 32 9 11 262 (W) 1902 mstly cldy none 06:00 31 9 14 274 (W) 1643 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
