I closed so that some in the dome tests could be done. Cloud cover continued to get thicker until it was too opaque to see the moon. We remained closed for all of first half. Second half my observer logged in and immediately gave up and logged out before I had a chance to tell her it would likely clear in a few hours. At 02:30 it indeed did start clearing. I attempted to reach the observer by phone but got no answer. It is possible that she was under the impression that she only had the first hour and that the rest of the time someone else would log in and use. Since no one did and the scheduled user was unreachable I decided to use the time to get some engineering time to test some of the bug fixes with the newest beta version of TUI as well as do some on sky testing of some of my own TUI scripts. This time turned out to be quite productive even though seeing was quite variable and often poor. I was able to verify that the focus scripts for NA2 Guider (both SecFocus and GMechFocus versions) worked well. I tested the Echelle focus script as well as testing the new changes to ecam/gcam/dcam widgets. I took some additional test data that Russell requested for PR739 and PR740 (bad subframing for gcam). I also corrected a bug in the obs-specs focus logging script that having on sky time helped with. I was also able to test two other scripts that the obs-specs use that needed sky time to verify they worked. It was a rather productive use of the 4 hours. I could not get the louvers to open tonight in Auto or Manual modes. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ------------------------------------------------------------------- DD05 D T/H --:-- --:-- Louvers would not open in auto or manual modes ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 17:45 APOLLO 0(814) 53 66 3.5 5.7 5.4 4.7 4.0 -- 1.50 03:01 dis-slit -91( -281) -11 79 2.2 2.3 1.9 2.1 2.1 -- 1.93 03:07 NA2gdr -225(21774) -19 80 2.0 2.1 1.8 1.9 1.9 R+nd2 1.25 03:09 NA2gdr -492(21507) -22 80 2.0 2.1 1.8 1.9 1.8 R+nd2 1.31 03:53 NA2gdr -3032(18967) -58 74 1.6 1.6 1.5 1.4 1.5 R+nd2 1.27 03:56 NA2gdr -2689(19310) -60 73 1.5 1.6 1.5 1.4 1.5 R+nd2 1.10 04:10 ECHELLE 17(-1012) -21 83 1.4 1.5 1.4 1.3 1.4 ND2 1.18 04:23 dis-slit 7( -233) -41 82 1.3 1.3 1.3 1.2 1.2 -- 1.45 04:27 NA2gdr 1691(23691) -46 81 1.4 1.4 1.3 1.3 1.4 R+nd2 1.10 04:36 NA2gdr 612(22612) -55 80 1.4 1.3 1.3 1.2 1.4 R+nd2 1.10 04:47 GUIDER -153( -241) -61 78 1.4 1.2 1.2 1.2 1.2 R+nd2 1.31 04:50 GUIDER -173( -261) -63 78 1.4 1.2 1.2 1.1 1.3 R+nd2 0.96 04:56 dis-slit 24( -213) -68 76 1.4 1.2 1.2 1.2 1.2 -- 1.59 04:58 dis-slit 40( -196) -69 76 1.4 1.1 1.2 1.2 1.2 -- 1.68 05:03 NA2gdr 860(22860) -71 75 1.4 1.2 1.2 1.2 1.3 clear 1.61 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 46 14 18 226 (SW) 1240 ptly cldy none 17:00 40 14 20 236 (SW) 1239 mstly cldy none 18:00 39 13 13 194 (SSW) 820 cloudy none 19:00 39 12 15 200 (SSW) 534 cloudy none 20:00 41 12 20 216 (SW) 458 cloudy none 21:00 40 13 26 215 (SW) 708 cloudy none 22:00 40 13 17 223 (SW) 758 cloudy none 23:00 39 13 24 219 (SW) 704 cloudy none 00:00 37 14 20 207 (SSW) 975 cloudy none 01:00 37 15 22 207 (SSW) 1190 cloudy none 02:00 37 14 18 240 (WSW) 1201 ptly cldy none 03:00 36 9 19 226 (SW) 827 clear none 04:00 35 9 24 254 (WSW) 1315 clear none 05:00 34 9 26 269 (W) 930 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
