Seeing was 3 arcseconds or greater, and the focus is not recorded because the measurement uncertainty was so large. It took several more hours for the winds to drop again, so Don elected to use all the time for the echelle; however, it's accounted as it was scheduled. Seeing started out poor but improved as the winds continued to drop. The tertiary behaved well in rotation to and from the echelle. No problems with the DIS slitviewer shutter in the brief time that we were on sky, in spite of intense cold; the obstruction in the image is still there, however. There was one hangup of the echelle slitviewer, quickly resolved by restarting nubs without having to reboot slitty. NIC-FPS performance was perfect, although close attention did reveal some sign of the newly established focus differences among the broadband filters. I made a pointing correction which was probably necessitated by the tertiary tilt problems of the past weekend. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:37 ECHELLE -22(-1342) 27 43 -2.6 -4.9 -4.2 -4.6 -3.3 Clear 2.25 00:30 NICFPS -150( -17) 61 63 0.2 -1.4 -0.7 -1.2 -0.2 Ks 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 18 -28 9 49 (NE) 194 ptly cldy none 17:00 26 -23 14 337 (NNW) 148 ptly cldy none 18:00 22 -28 28 19 (NNE) 302 ptly cldy none 19:00 20 -29 32 23 (NNE) 447 ptly cldy none 20:00 22 -27 24 16 (NNE) 254 ptly cldy none 21:00 22 -5 17 360 (N) 231 ptly cldy none 22:00 25 0 29 29 (NNE) 89 mstly clr none 23:00 31 0 11 357 (N) 50 clear none 00:00 31 1 20 28 (NNE) 56 clear none 01:00 33 1 21 20 (NNE) 54 clear none 02:00 31 5 18 26 (NNE) 41 clear none 03:00 31 3 16 31 (NNE) 33 clear none 04:00 30 5 8 356 (N) 114 clear none 05:00 30 8 27 21 (NNE) 42 clear none 06:00 31 8 15 16 (NNE) 85 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
