Skies cleared and we were able to stay open all of first half. Seeing was decent to good for first half. The obstruction in the lower left corner of the dis slitviewer is still visible however it did not seem to hamper observations especially if guiding in this area was avoided if possible. It only appears very noticable under high illumination such as with the cal lamps. No difficulties with the tertiary tonight. Rotation worked well and pointing was good. Second half I started to continue test measurements I made earlier in the month with the tertiary piston and tilts however before I got very far cloud cover became bothersome and I could not finish. We were unable to continue on the sky for the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:34 dis-slit -60( -424) 9 70 -0.1 0.8 0.6 0.2 0.0 -- 1.88 22:47 ECHELLE -149(-1161) -13 79 2.5 1.9 2.3 1.8 2.4 nd2 0.86 00:32 GUIDER 134( 72) 8 63 2.7 1.7 2.2 1.5 2.3 R+nd2 0.80 00:35 GUIDER 184( 126) 6 62 2.7 1.8 2.3 1.6 2.4 R+nd2 0.92 00:39 GUIDER 146( 88) 4 62 2.6 1.8 2.2 1.6 2.2 R+nd2 1.27 00:41 GUIDER 111( 54) 2 63 2.7 1.9 2.2 1.7 2.3 R+nd2 0.79 00:45 GUIDER 121( 68) 0 63 2.5 1.9 2.3 1.7 2.4 R+nd2 0.90 00:48 GUIDER 170( 115) -1 62 2.3 1.9 2.2 1.7 2.2 R+nd2 0.86 00:52 GUIDER 133( 79) -3 62 2.4 1.9 2.3 1.8 2.3 R+nd2 1.00 01:03 GUIDER -10( -59) -9 62 2.5 2.0 2.3 2.0 2.4 R 2.70 01:10 GUIDER 93( 50) -12 62 2.9 2.1 2.4 2.2 2.4 V 1.43 01:11 GUIDER 93( 48) -13 62 2.7 2.1 2.4 2.2 2.4 R 1.29 01:14 GUIDER 63( 24) -15 62 2.8 2.2 2.6 2.3 2.6 clear 1.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 34 26 20 212 (SSW) 951 mstly cldy none 17:00 31 27 16 198 (SSW) 970 clear humid 18:00 32 22 20 190 (S) 572 clear none 19:00 33 25 13 250 (WSW) 728 mstly cldy none 20:00 34 26 13 225 (SW) 796 mstly cldy none 21:00 35 26 22 236 (SW) 722 clear none 22:00 36 27 25 228 (SW) 596 clear none 23:00 36 28 23 236 (SW) 612 clear none 00:00 35 28 19 221 (SW) 620 clear none 01:00 37 26 26 221 (SW) 547 mstly cldy none 02:00 37 26 21 223 (SW) 494 cloudy none 03:00 36 27 17 201 (SSW) 656 cloudy none 04:00 35 27 23 216 (SW) 777 cloudy none 05:00 34 27 19 214 (SW) 767 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
