Not rotation test tonight. Tom was boresight guiding tonight using rot 90 horizon and the X axis seemed flipped on the DIS slitviewer (with very poor tracking as well). ie. what my cheat sheet said to enter to make the star move in the X direction I had to put the opposite sign in. I was using the Offset widget with type Object XY. On Tom's next target (same region in the sky, Az -67, alt 56) we used field star guiding instead of boresight and it seemed to do a much better job of keeping the star where we wanted it (on the boresight). We tried boresight guiding on a brighter star a little later (still using rot 90 horizon) and it would not center the star correctly (offsets in X seemed reversed as noticed earlier). Field star guiding worked fine. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:33 dis-slit -111( -17) 2 58 6.6 9.9 8.1 8.3 7.2 -- 1.50 22:04 dis-slit -74( -142) -80 52 7.3 6.5 7.1 6.0 7.0 -- 1.12 22:08 dis-slit -50( -116) -80 51 7.5 6.5 7.1 6.0 7.0 -- 0.00 00:11 dis-slit -50( -86) -7 67 7.3 7.4 7.6 6.9 7.2 -- 1.07 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 47 3 4 290 (WNW) 372 clear none 17:00 46 0 10 358 (N) 131 clear none 18:00 46 1 12 16 (NNE) 119 clear none 19:00 45 0 6 16 (NNE) 257 clear none 20:00 44 0 13 22 (NNE) 227 clear none 21:00 45 0 17 23 (NNE) 162 clear none 22:00 45 0 15 20 (NNE) 251 clear none 23:00 47 3 20 20 (NNE) 287 clear none 00:00 46 4 17 19 (NNE) 408 clear none 01:00 45 3 17 28 (NNE) 410 clear none 02:00 45 4 18 17 (NNE) 429 clear none 03:00 45 7 17 27 (NNE) 398 clear none 04:00 45 8 14 26 (NNE) 431 clear none 05:00 43 11 15 54 (NE) 358 clear none 06:00 42 10 17 72 (ENE) 364 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
