Would not respond to nubs restart or axis inits. Logged into talk2boxes with no response to status. Called Fritz, then Jon. Jon was able to restart the controller, and then the axis init would go through. Lost 30 mins. UT07:40 dcam seemed to lock up. Observer accidentally took a 414 second exposure. Restarting nubs would not clear it, could not seem to get buttons active again on guider. Perhaps one of the commands worked or maybe just timed out, eventually it came back. Lost 10 mins. UT08:27 Tried to switch to Echelle. Tertiary move to NA1 failed. TUI log: 08:27:52 APO.gabrelle 359 telmech f errtxt=""; UNPARSEDTEXT="?CHKMV one or more axes didn't make it (SC<> 001). SC, or 0 if not moved: 000, 000, 000, 000, 008\"\"" Tried a few times. Then moved telescope up in alt, tried again. Same error. Logged into talk2boxes. First home: ?CHKMV one or more axes didn't make it (SC<> 009). SC, or 0 if not moved: 000, 000, 000, 000, 008 Tried to home again, still not right (grabbed talk2boxes output in an email). Tried a few more times and tried to call Nick. Left message. Called Russet. She tried a home got same error. Tertiary seems to be at or near the home position (between NA2 and TR2), but won't properly home or move anywhere else. This shut us down for the night. Telescope is unavailable until tertiary can be moved. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM06 D T/H UT02:04 02:35 Rotator Controller error UC03 D I/S UT07:40 07:50 dcam lock up UC03 D T/H UT08:27 12:40 Tertiary failed move ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 18:48 dis-slit 173( 8) -38 55 4.6 4.6 3.9 3.9 4.3 1.32 20:46 dis-slit -57(-277) 196 64 3.6 3.6 3.7 2.6 3.5 1.94 21:17 dis-slit -32(-228) 193 34 3.5 3.3 3.3 2.1 2.9 1.75 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 38 16 1 203 (SSW) 1582 clear none 17:00 39 13 1 178 (S) 1450 clear none 18:00 40 13 7 155 (SSE) 1354 clear none 19:00 39 -5 12 139 (SE) 393 clear none 20:00 39 -7 10 164 (SSE) 157 clear none 21:00 38 -7 7 177 (S) 156 clear none 22:00 39 -7 7 160 (SSE) 121 clear none 23:00 39 -7 8 134 (SE) 111 clear none 00:00 41 -5 4 114 (ESE) 112 clear none 01:00 43 -3 2 194 (SSW) 88 clear none 02:00 42 -3 2 193 (SSW) 94 clear none 03:00 42 -3 1 182 (S) 83 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
