Coughlin Az Velocity Scale was 580.0, measured 580.0, 578.7; 579.4. Kept at 580.0. Top and Middle left louvers had to be opened from the observing level as per PR 902. Seeing was very poor (~3") at opening and stayed that way until around 20:15. Initial focus run was difficult, but I managed to get good focus from looking at the astigmatism. Humidity skirted closure limits for a few hours after opening, but it managed not to linger above it, so we stayed open; humidity dropped back down at 20:14. At 19:02 program CU04 was unable to find their faint targets due to the bright infrared sky from poor conditions, and turned over control to second half program DD05 (another CU user) to attempt some brighter targets, which were successful. Control was handed back to CU04 at 20:45 when conditions improved significantly. CU04 continued until 00:26 with the approval of DD05, who then took back over for the remainder of the night. TSpec and the rotator behaved well tonight, and pointing appeared to be excellent. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:12 TSPEC -75( 91) 8 57 0.6 5.3 3.4 2.1 3.0 3.00 21:49 TSPEC -45( -125) 349 79 0.0 0.4 0.7 -0.2 0.4 3.10 23:48 TSPEC 82( 44) -74 66 2.2 1.2 1.9 0.9 1.8 1.00 03:33 TSPEC -50( -165) -78 68 -0.9 -0.3 -0.2 -1.0 -0.9 1.10 05:04 TSPEC 75( -89) -123 54 -1.7 -1.5 -1.3 -2.0 -1.7 0.85 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 47 24 10 276 (W) 749 clear none 17:00 43 28 5 334 (NNW) 738 clear none 18:00 33 29 15 73 (ENE) 618 clear humid 19:00 33 28 11 62 (ENE) 617 clear humid 20:00 31 27 14 76 (ENE) 809 clear humid 21:00 35 27 5 15 (NNE) 973 clear none 22:00 35 26 5 7 (N) 818 clear none 23:00 36 26 10 357 (N) 862 clear none 00:00 36 27 9 311 (NW) 717 clear none 01:00 33 25 9 349 (N) 737 clear none 02:00 31 25 7 355 (N) 899 clear none 03:00 30 25 6 357 (N) 1086 clear none 04:00 29 24 15 332 (NNW) 1157 clear none 05:00 28 22 13 330 (NNW) 1292 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
