Elevated dust levels most of the night but we were able to remain open with alternate ventillation scheme. During my afternoon checkout I was having some difficulty getting the triplespec slitviewer to take any images. I misdiagnosed the problem and ended up making a bigger mess for Matt N. when he finally logged in to help. In the end the problem (a bad file written by the hub) was fixed and the instrument was working well in advance of second half. No sky time was lost. I was able to get some focus data to check the broadband verses narrow band filters in Nicfps for documentation purposes. No other problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:33 NICFPS -110(159) 59 72 -0.2 1.4 1.1 0.8 0.2 Ks 0.88 18:36 NICFPS -132(131) 57 72 -0.1 1.3 1.0 0.6 0.1 H2-2.25 0.69 18:58 NICFPS -112(123) 260 76 -0.1 0.8 0.6 0.1 -0.0 H 0.84 19:00 NICFPS -101(132) 260 75 -0.3 0.7 0.6 0.1 -0.1 FeII-1.64 0.71 21:38 NICFPS -77(102) 248 47 -0.4 -0.8 -0.5 -1.4 -0.7 H 0.92 21:41 NICFPS -94( 86) 248 46 -0.5 -0.8 -0.5 -1.3 -0.7 H2-2.12 0.85 01:06 TSPEC 81(-42) 216 39 -0.9 -1.1 -0.7 -1.7 -1.0 Ks 0.59 01:12 TSPEC 81(-39) 216 38 -0.4 -1.1 -0.7 -1.6 -0.9 Ks 1.12 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 35 22 22 290 (WNW) 5157 ptly cldy dust 17:00 33 19 13 262 (W) 3581 clear dust 18:00 31 18 16 254 (WSW) 3916 clear dust 19:00 32 17 14 237 (WSW) 3975 clear dust 20:00 31 16 13 259 (W) 4444 clear dust 21:00 31 16 10 258 (WSW) 5808 clear dust 22:00 31 18 8 265 (W) 6934 clear dust 23:00 31 18 5 266 (W) 6964 clear dust 00:00 30 19 14 284 (WNW) 6632 clear dust 01:00 31 18 16 271 (W) 4784 clear dust 02:00 31 18 16 281 (W) 3892 clear dust 03:00 30 18 12 263 (W) 3397 clear dust 04:00 29 17 9 321 (NW) 2309 ptly cldy none 05:00 29 18 21 289 (WNW) 2171 ptly cldy none 06:00 29 18 13 332 (NNW) 1922 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
