After some investigation I isolated it to be an internal wire in the instrument. It is one of the wires just outside the filter wheel leading to the wheel connections. It hung down when the instrument was at a physical rotation of about 35 degrees. I tucked it back in as good as possible and took test images at various rotations and it seems to be clear now. We were open but fighting with clouds all night. With guide stars coming and going, very little useful data was obtained :( ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 20:25 SPICAM -245(285) 101 49 11.7 13.5 12.6 12.3 12.0 Strom y 1.11 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 64 30 10 266 (W) 950 mstly cldy none 17:00 57 27 7 252 (WSW) 779 mstly cldy none 18:00 55 28 8 244 (WSW) 801 mstly cldy none 19:00 54 27 6 201 (SSW) 893 mstly cldy none 20:00 54 26 12 209 (SSW) 892 mstly cldy none 21:00 53 29 12 211 (SSW) 1052 mstly cldy none 22:00 53 33 18 217 (SW) 1167 mstly cldy none 23:00 52 33 12 206 (SSW) 1298 mstly cldy none 00:00 52 32 11 224 (SW) 1195 mstly cldy none 01:00 52 34 10 249 (WSW) 1218 mstly cldy none 02:00 51 36 11 225 (SW) 1202 mstly cldy none 03:00 50 37 14 223 (SW) 1026 ptly cldy none 04:00 50 36 11 255 (WSW) 892 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
