I initially forgot to do an axis init and had my observer slew (which it did) then saw the stop switches engaged in TUI (they weren't actually) and realized I forgot the axis init. Stopped the drives and re-init them and then got the servo errors. I could seem to rotate the instrument CW but not CCW. It managed to clear itself after about 15 mins (I had just called Fritz. While focusing the stars wanted to drift durng the sweep. telescope was in the west both times. This happened for both TSPEC and DISslit. 01:11 DIS slit camera started giving strange images. see images 029-032 08:21 Rotator stopped (08:20:58UT to be exact). Read timed out on LTA5. COntroller error and then servo error after restart. Again it cleared itself about 15 mins later, well I could rotate it CW again to 0 but it refused again to go CCW. It also started sprinkling on us while all this was happening (cloud with virga coming off it as we had patchy skies). I let the observer take cals while we were closed and then continued to see if I could get the rotator working again. When I start working on it again (it was stuck at 0) I could rotate it to -45 but not CW now. I tried it with TUI and the rotations seemed to work from there now (it originally failed under TUI). 11:19:03 ctrl click not working for DIS slitviewer for me. The arrow pointed to the boresight but the star moved horizontal (should have moved diagonal). repeated attempts just moved it further horizontal. see guider images 192-195. Upon going up to the dome discovered that the rotator was off by about 30 deg and most likely caused by the earlier controller/servo problems. I roughly set it back to 0 but the rotator needs to be re-zero'ed with the level (I just used the tape due to my observer needing to get a std and twilight approaching. TSPEC Aux tank was not filled at the start of the night. NA2 rotator needs to be zero'ed ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (STEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UC06 T T/H 22:15 22:35 Rotator servo error ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:37 TSPEC -36(398) -121 49 10.6 10.6 10.6 9.9 10.2 Ks 0.71 01:01 DISSlit -118(-20) -78 55 10.2 9.9 10.3 9.4 10.1 -- 1.2 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 52 41 11 147 (SSE) 580 cldy lt. rain 17:00 48 43 18 131 (SE) 538 cldy none 18:00 49 41 15 148 (SSE) 137 cldy none 19:00 52 40 12 184 (S) 583 cldy none 20:00 52 37 17 199 (SSW) 757 cldy none 21:00 52 39 12 181 (S) 747 cldy none 22:00 52 39 13 184 (S) 805 pt. cldy none 23:00 50 38 8 188 (S) 730 clear none 00:00 50 39 7 199 (SSW) 753 clear none 01:00 50 39 8 227 (SW) 787 pt. cldy none 02:00 50 39 15 219 (SW) 839 cldy none 03:00 49 38 7 219 (SW) 804 cldy none 04:00 48 38 5 260 (W) 818 cldy none 05:00 48 39 5 256 (WSW) 786 pt. cldy none 06:00 49 36 4 316 (NW) 851 pt. cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
