Pointing was great with the echelle tonight, didn't have to correct for it. Seeing was misserable all night long, 2+ arc sec or worse for most of the night. It got worse second half with seeing in the 3-6 arc sec area (yes, that bad!). Sloan and the DIMM reported equally horrible seeing estimates. We had a power loss for just a second during the first half. It knocked off the drives and reset the mirror covers, but nothing else seemed affected. Power dropped for just a sec and we went back to utility. No observing time was lost as Don was just finishing reading out his exposure and about to slew when it happened. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:01 Echelle 44(-960) 217 45 -0.7 1.7 0.6 0.7 -0.3 ND3 1.9 21:13 Echelle -12(-1200) 237 72 -1.9 -1.7 -1.0 -2.2 -1.9 ND3 2.7 00:12 SPIcam 6(-404) 170 80 -5.8 -5.2 -4.6 -5.6 -5.6 g' 2.2 00:18 NA2gdr -3000 176 80 -5.8 -5.3 -4.7 -5.7 -5.7 R 2.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions --------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 34 22 15 238 (WSW) 956 cldy none 17:00 31 23 21 209 (SSW) 986 cldy none 18:00 31 23 18 219 (SW) 1190 pt. cldy none 19:00 30 20 15 219 (SW) 1463 pt. cldy none 20:00 30 15 16 280 (W) 1599 clear none 21:00 29 14 19 280 (W) 963 clear none 22:00 27 15 24 287 (WNW) 658 clear none 23:00 25 16 12 316 (NW) 1418 clear none 00:00 22 14 19 19 (NNE) 357 clear none 01:00 21 9 7 355 (N) 264 pt. cldy none 02:00 22 7 31 20 (NNE) 512 pt. cldy none 03:00 23 5 14 14 (NNE) 202 pt. cldy none 04:00 24 5 11 37 (NE) 169 clear none 05:00 22 6 19 354 (N) 189 clear none 06:00 22 6 10 14 (NNE) 186 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
