Nothing seemed to be wrong, NA2 guider saw stars as normal, and there were no errors except images from the slitviewer that looked like the eyelid was closed; seemed to be inside DIS, perhaps a stuck shutter. Since it was close to switch over time first-half observer turned remaining time over to second-half. 00:10 NICFPS darks did not look right to observer. Restarted all the normal connections, could not get good test images. Power-cycled controller and ICC each a few times. ICS gave error that NFS server was not connected; could not get connections restored. Observer had backup program with SPIcam so we switched over to SPIcam around 01:00. High winds went over the limit on and off all second half. Wind gusts worsened after 04:00. Closed at 5:30 when gusts stayed near 40 mph; just got worse after that. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU02 D I/H 23:40 00:00 DIS slitviewer shutter JH02 N I/S 23:55 00:55 NICFPS failure ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 18:05 dis-slit 4( -196) 273 54 0.5 1.8 1.4 0.6 0.6 1.80 01:03 SPICAM 109( -238) 132 66 -4.3 -4.0 -2.6 -4.6 -4.4 1.50 01:50 SPICAM 100( -277) 144 72 -4.7 -4.6 -4.0 -5.0 -4.8 1.70 03:09 SPICAM 165( -277) 194 76 -6.2 -5.9 -5.3 -6.1 -6.0 1.50 03:49 SPICAM 133( -311) 105 54 -6.4 -6.2 -5.7 -6.6 -6.3 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 34 10 3 326 (NW) 291 clear none 17:00 34 9 8 332 (NNW) 309 clear none 18:00 33 6 1 261 (W) 241 clear none 19:00 32 9 6 301 (WNW) 218 clear none 20:00 31 12 10 284 (WNW) 243 clear none 21:00 32 10 14 270 (W) 330 clear none 22:00 31 9 18 283 (WNW) 311 clear none 23:00 30 11 17 297 (WNW) 508 clear none 00:00 25 12 16 21 (NNE) 447 clear none 01:00 24 6 12 41 (NE) 274 clear none 02:00 24 9 15 9 (N) 294 clear none 03:00 21 10 28 13 (NNE) 313 clear none 04:00 20 6 18 358 (N) 268 clear none 05:00 20 1 23 16 (NNE) 148 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
