We did open in twilight but closed just before the first program actually started (although Guy did get a couple echelle exposures of his nova). Then the waiting game started. I tried to open around 22:45 only to close just after we got DIS focused, due to clouds. Humidity and forming clouds kept us closed until 03:45, when I again attempted to open and get some sky time. Clouds were forming still around us and it was a bit frustrating, as clouds again appeared overhead as my observer was trying to get some standards. Humidity was borderline closure as well, but stable. We threw in the towel at 05:00 since it didn't look like the clouds were now here to stay. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:16 Echelle 293(-46) -6 38 12.8 16.2 14.7 14.6 13.8 ND2 1.1 22:52 DISSlit 28(355) 116 35 10.7 12.8 14.2 11.3 11.0 -- 1.7 03:49 DISSlit 26(264) 279 76 10.8 11.0 13.4 10.3 10.5 -- 1.2 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions --------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 62 39 12 268 (W) 683 cirrus none 17:00 62 39 2 267 (W) 760 cirrus none 18:00 57 40 6 253 (WSW) 863 cirrus none 19:00 54 38 3 243 (WSW) 888 cirrus none 20:00 56 38 5 269 (W) 922 cldy none 21:00 51 40 9 103 (ESE) 972 cldy none 22:00 50 41 10 108 (ESE) 1146 cldy none 23:00 51 44 18 126 (SE) 1127 cldy none 00:00 52 45 15 132 (SE) 945 cldy none 01:00 52 45 12 143 (SE) 847 cldy none 02:00 50 45 11 135 (SE) 864 cldy none 03:00 50 45 12 160 (SSE) 955 cldy none 04:00 52 46 9 190 (S) 837 cldy none 05:00 52 47 10 207 (SSW) 727 cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
