The beginning of the first half was shared with APOLLO. Although they did not get any returns they were able to accomplish alot since this was their first on sky night since the recent laser work that was done. It was also their first complete remote operation. Tom and Russet seemed to be pleased with the remote performance. The rest of the night went smoothly with no problems. Pointing was off significantly switching from BC1 to NA2 and a typo on my part in the config file made matters worse. However I was able to recognize the problem immediately and correct it. Luckily, the pointing reference star I used was barely in the field of view of the guider or correcting the M3 tilts would have taken much longer. Over all the performance of the telescope pointing and tracking was excellent. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 19:26 APOLLO 250(1502) 44 59 12.7 16.3 14.8 14.9 13.9 - 1.5 20:29 dis-slit 162(522) 92 59 13.2 14.7 14.5 12.8 13.2 - 1.0 01:32 SPICAM 113(536) 266 55 13.3 12.1 13.2 10.8 12.3 r 0.9 01:35 NA2gdr -2378(29722) 264 53 13.6 12.1 13.2 10.7 12.2 R+nd2 0.7 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 59 42 7 304 (NW) 627 clear none 17:00 58 40 5 276 (W) 649 clear none 18:00 59 42 3 263 (W) 726 clear none 19:00 56 40 3 286 (WNW) 624 clear none 20:00 55 40 1 330 (NNW) 657 clear none 21:00 56 40 3 60 (ENE) 710 clear none 22:00 53 41 7 7 (N) 708 clear none 23:00 54 35 8 20 (NNE) 524 clear none 00:00 57 33 2 88 (E) 480 clear none 01:00 57 33 1 147 (SSE) 479 clear none 02:00 56 34 3 164 (SSE) 519 clear none 03:00 55 38 6 176 (S) 553 clear none 04:00 56 35 1 213 (SSW) 521 clear none 05:00 56 33 1 240 (WSW) 504 clear none 06:00 55 38 0 214 (SW) 578 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
