Rain and lightning and high humidity and high winds meant no chance of opening. I did some preparatory work for measuring collimation once we can get on sky, and checked out instruments. I resolved some minor problems with SPIcam and the echelle slitviewer and found a problem with the DIS red side which I couldn't resolve: the images are all in reverse video, with a bias level around 65K and light sources gving lower values. The histogram is much too smoothly populated for this to be random bit-flipping, so I'm guessing it's some software switch that just needs to be reset. I was able to work with DIS despite this problem, and got all eight gratings aligned (but the R1200 might need a little more refinement). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 56 52 9 81 (E) 647 cloudy rain 17:00 50 48 24 72 (ENE) 327 cloudy rain 18:00 49 46 28 79 (E) 353 cloudy rain 19:00 51 44 17 87 (E) 47 cloudy lt rain 20:00 53 42 10 83 (E) 68 cloudy none 21:00 53 42 11 80 (E) 245 cloudy none 22:00 55 43 15 112 (ESE) 237 cloudy humid 23:00 52 50 24 72 (ENE) 38 cloudy lt rain 00:00 48 47 30 71 (ENE) 14 cloudy humid 01:00 47 46 32 65 (ENE) 1 cloudy humid 02:00 46 44 32 72 (ENE) 68 cloudy lt rain 03:00 49 42 30 72 (ENE) 382 cloudy none 04:00 49 42 23 70 (ENE) 3034 cloudy none 05:00 49 42 5 83 (E) 1292 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
