It turned out to be unusable, anyway. Clouds and nearby radar returns kept us closed at sunset, then just clouds for a while. We got just over an hour of partly clear skies and subarcsecond seeing at midnight, then the clouds formed overhead again just in time for the program change. We were able to focus but couldn't even get a usable standard star observation for a while. Everything worked well except that pointing was about an arcminute off with the echelle at first. Pointing at NA2 was fine. This is our last night before the start of shutdown; there will be no night logs for approximately four weeks. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:58 ECHELLE -112( -249) 194 65 19.6 20.2 19.2 20.0 19.4 ND2 0.8 01:44 dis-slit -100( 520) -70 80 18.7 19.0 18.2 19.1 18.6 - 0.9 03:07 dis-slit 3( 617) -90 63 18.8 18.7 18.0 18.9 18.6 - 1.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 67 50 18 54 (NE) 591 mstly cldy none 17:00 78 51 8 212 (SSW) 657 mstly cldy none 18:00 74 47 9 268 (W) 596 mstly cldy none 19:00 72 46 7 260 (W) 513 mstly cldy none 20:00 68 46 4 266 (W) 521 mstly cldy none 21:00 67 45 5 263 (W) 496 mstly cldy none 22:00 68 47 5 279 (W) 623 mstly cldy none 23:00 67 46 3 204 (SSW) 647 mstly cldy none 00:00 67 47 1 321 (NW) 664 ptly cldy none 01:00 66 46 1 224 (SW) 671 mstly cldy none 02:00 66 46 2 207 (SSW) 616 mstly cldy none 03:00 65 47 4 1 (N) 637 ptly cldy none 04:00 66 46 4 353 (N) 573 mstly clr none 05:00 65 46 8 4 (N) 716 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
