The first thing we noticed in the afternoon test slews was error messages from the M3 Galil that it could not adjust collimation and focus because "some axes to be moved have not been homed". We homed both the tertiary mirror and the rotation, about an hour before sunset, This corrected the errors we were seeing. About an hour before sundown there was alot of storm activity in the basin to our west. Although we could not open we tested the spicam sky flat script during evening twilight by doing dome flats. Problem Reports on what we found were filed. We tested the new features in TUI 1.4a9 including the new enclosure widget. Comments were sent on to Fritz and Russell. Weather conditions never improved to a point where we could open for the rest of the night. Much of the rest of the night was taken up with further training for Jim Davenport. The spicam sky flat script was tested with a closed dome during morning twilight to see if the behavior was similar to during evening twilight. The script worked the same way for evening and morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 77 40 11 275 (W) 2131 ptly cldy none 17:00 71 45 5 124 (SE) 2060 ptly cldy none 18:00 65 45 7 80 (E) 582 mstly cldy none 19:00 62 45 20 69 (ENE) 510 cloudy none 20:00 61 37 17 73 (ENE) 469 cloudy none 21:00 59 39 9 345 (NNW) 3641 cloudy none 22:00 60 37 6 9 (N) 1205 cloudy lt rain 23:00 61 36 12 23 (NNE) 1198 mstly cldy none 00:00 60 37 12 42 (NE) 1017 cloudy none 01:00 57 43 24 56 (NE) 662 ptly cldy none 02:00 54 47 20 72 (ENE) 816 ptly cldy humid 03:00 47 43 23 70 (ENE) 261 ptly cldy humid 04:00 45 44 38 63 (ENE) 238 ptly cldy humid 05:00 45 42 35 71 (ENE) 231 ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
