It's possible the unhappy state was caused by a dialog box mentioning the computer hadn't been backed up in a while. But I had some trouble with the keyboard talking to the computer, so I was distracted and I'm not sure if that dialog box showed up before or after I tried to wake the computer. At checkout: air temp ~21 Az velocity scale: 579 We had a big storm approaching from the north at sunset, and associated clouds cut the APOLLO time short (but we got good signal on three reflectors anyway!). For the remainder of first half we were closed due to rain threats on the radar, but it turned out to be one of those clouds that perpetually approached but never arrived. By the program change, the rain threat was almost gone, but we waited a little longer for several waves of thicker clouds to pass before opening under thin stuff. We saw some cases of image elongation in the altitude direction while tracking targets low (alt 30-40) in the west and WNW. Since wind was light from the south at this time, it was likely to be tracking error rather than excessive wind sensitivity. This part of the sky should be targeted for the tracking tuning improvements planned for next week's engineering. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:15 APOLLO 600 1.1 02:20 DISslit 123(365) -33 52 14.6 15.68 15.28 16.01 14.81 - 1.8 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 71 38 1 237 (WSW) 301 ptly cldy none 17:00 73 38 7 247 (WSW) 323 ptly cldy none 18:00 73 39 7 222 (SW) 317 ptly cldy none 19:00 69 37 7 252 (WSW) 342 mstly clr none 20:00 65 37 1 207 (SSW) 309 mstly clr none 21:00 64 36 6 199 (SSW) 319 ptly cldy none 22:00 64 35 5 179 (S) 341 ptly cldy none 23:00 63 35 5 78 (ENE) 358 mstly cldy none 00:00 60 34 18 59 (ENE) 354 mstly cldy none 01:00 60 33 2 90 (E) 350 mstly cldy none 02:00 61 32 5 157 (SSE) 324 ptly cldy none 03:00 58 35 3 145 (SE) 368 ptly cldy none 04:00 60 34 5 179 (S) 383 mstly clr none 05:00 59 36 7 180 (S) 379 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
