Occasional clouds continued to pose a challenge throughout the night but didn't prevent observations. Seeing was moderate. At checkout: air temp ~17 Az velocity scale: 582 Alt velocity scale: -634 At changeover: air temp ~14 Az velocity scale: 578 The second half observer had some connectivity problems that seemed to get worse whenever he tried to use the slitviewer. He said this was the second time this had happened to him (both times observing from on campus, once with a Mac desktop running v1.2, this time with a Mac laptop running v1.3). I'm not aware of other JHU observers having the same problem. He didn't have any difficulty transferring his spectra with ftp. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:40 NICFPS 118(807) 166 62 14.6 15.83 15.16 15.93 14.78 H 0.94 01:10 DISslit 95(280) 230 68 13.8 14.03 13.76 14.36 13.97 - 1.3 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 64 42 13 74 (ENE) 396 mstly cldy none 17:00 66 43 8 304 (NW) 830 mstly cldy none 18:00 64 43 4 21 (NNE) 880 mstly cldy none 19:00 62 38 14 80 (E) 576 mstly cldy none 20:00 61 35 17 76 (ENE) 378 mstly cldy none 21:00 59 37 20 76 (ENE) 431 ptly cldy none 22:00 58 34 16 88 (E) 367 ptly cldy none 23:00 57 33 18 75 (ENE) 401 ptly cldy none 00:00 58 32 11 90 (E) 390 ptly cldy none 01:00 57 32 8 111 (ESE) 390 mstly clr none 02:00 57 33 9 110 (ESE) 404 mstly clr none 03:00 56 34 8 99 (E) 396 ptly cldy none 04:00 57 33 7 105 (ESE) 465 ptly cldy none 05:00 59 31 4 126 (SE) 467 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
