Seeing was subarcsecond at the beginning of the night, mediocre around 1.5 for much of the remainder. We had some minor troubles during first half; one hard crash of the echelle slitviewer which required a power-cycle, but cost no time because the telescope tracked well in the interim. Then the observer had connectivity troubles due to a thunderstorm at her end; she talked me through setting up on another target and then drove to campus only to find that the building was completely without power. When she got back home, connectivity was restored there, so she was able to finish off her observations. APOLLO worked smoothly but got weak signal due to low altitude, poor seeing, and some tracking imperfections -- hopefully the drive swaps will improve this. During second half, DIS performed with no troubles. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:10 Echelle -12(-496) 92 66 13.3 13.40 12.84 13.30 13.19 ND3 0.92 01:10 DIS -30(274) -96 43 12.5 12.09 11.71 12.32 12.19 - 1.45 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 61 32 16 255 (WSW) 898 mstly cldy lt rain 17:00 54 32 12 217 (SW) 1002 mstly cldy none 18:00 46 39 24 60 (ENE) 2216 mstly cldy none 19:00 56 27 8 267 (W) 999 ptly cldy none 20:00 56 25 13 294 (WNW) 953 ptly cldy none 21:00 56 24 12 269 (W) 969 ptly cldy none 22:00 57 21 12 267 (W) 983 clear none 23:00 56 23 8 264 (W) 952 clear none 00:00 54 26 11 216 (SW) 1043 clear none 01:00 55 25 13 224 (SW) 1041 clear none 02:00 52 28 12 206 (SSW) 1100 clear none 03:00 52 26 10 211 (SSW) 1056 clear none 04:00 52 25 6 252 (WSW) 994 clear none 05:00 52 18 6 276 (W) 922 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
