All data can ve found in /export/images/Q1APO/UT070306/ (except slitview images) Unfortunately I didn't start ventalating until just before I opened, but the telescope structure temperature was missing and I didn't believe the Air temp (reading 6.53C and constant, even though the Primary and Secondary temps were around 3C and dropping, outside it was 1.1C). Focus was WAY skewed to the negative. The weather data for the telescope structure and Air temp were missing/wrong for the first half of the data and then came back on their own, as can be seen with the focus moving on me (chasing best focus). A plot of the ave of the numbers showed the DIS camera (Red) focus to be high at the start (-400 sec focus) compared to the Slitviewer, then at the end the DIS camera (Red) was lower than the Slitviewer (-11 sec focus). Not really too useful, but both focuses did follow each other somewhat (not skewed, indicating the two cameras were had different focus values). I then did a simple best DISslit focus vs DIS (red & blue) camera focus after the temps had stabalized and the weather data was back. Results below. 00:14 DIS focus sweep (after cooled) vs DISslit focus sweep DISslit Best FWHM 1.0 @ Sec Focus=-103 Sec Focus R(FWHM) B(FWHM) -153 3.44 2.56 -128 2.87 2.27 -103 2.36 2.54 -78 2.4 2.94 -53 2.46 3.6 DIS Red camera seems closely matched to DISslit, DIS Blue appears to be -25 steps off from Red best focus. At 00:45 I switched over to SPIcam for collimation tests (since S-H was INOP). I focused SPIcam (-50 sec focus), then focused the NA2 guider via the MC and gfocus (-3024), I then used the NA2 guider focus script to compare telescope focus as it moved the sec focus with SPIcam. It resulted in best focus at -52 which compared well to SPIcam (-50). Not sure what else to do here. Not sure what to check with Collimation w/o S-H. I took images going from -600 to +600 (steps of 100) thru focus. The out of focus doughnuts looked fine to me (nothing obvious). Below are the images. focus SPIcam image -650 collimation-650. -550 collimation-550. -450 collimation-450. -350 collimation-350 -250 collimation-250 -150 collimation-150. -050 collimation-50. +050 collimation+50. +150 collimation+150. +250 collimation+250. +350 collimation+350 +450 collimation+450 +550 collimation+550. +650 collimation+650. 01:50 focused SPIcam/NA2gdr and started pointing model using the parameters Russet gave me back in December. MaxAltForCorr 10 SlewPause 12 GRID_8_10_25_82_T_45.DAT;1 The guider focus is a bit too low (sec focus=0, inst=guider, gfocus=-7553). I wasn't sure which file to tweak so I left it for Russet to fix. This messed me up a bit during the pointing model, as I had focused with SPIcam as the instrument and then switched to GUIDER and forgot to re-focus. Good thing I checked the incoming images and noticed them out of focus. Implemented new pointing model (telmod.dat;100) I checked with SPIcam after I implemented the new model. The pointing looked spot on with SPIcam. I then switched to the Echelle to check pointing there. I adjusted the pointing there. I also adjusted the IIm_ctr in the instrument file to match the center of the slit (since we had been taking it out the past couple of days). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:48 DISslit -485() 60 68 1.4 -- 3.9 2.8 6.5 -- 1.5 21:59 DISslit -461(-565) 55 70 1.6 -- 3.4 2.5 6.5 -- 1.3 00:13 DISslit -103(-284) -52 71 -0.1 0.3 0.3 0.5 0.0 -- 1.0 00:14 DIS-Red -103 -53 71 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.1 -- 0.94 00:14 DIS-Blue -128 -53 71 0.2 0.3 0.3 0.4 0.1 -- 0.91 00:59 SPIcam -50(-91) -70 63 -0.1 0.0 -0.3 0.1 0.1 r' 0.73 01:04 NA2gdr -3024(29975) -71 61 -0.1 0.0 -0.2 0.1 -0.1 R 0.82 01:04 NA2gdr -52(-97) -72 61 0.1 -0.0 -0.2 0.1 -0.0 R 0.9 02:03 Guider -7553(31546) -31 31 0.1 -0.3 -0.8 -0.3 -0.1 ND3+R 0.9 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 39 3 2 163 (SSE) 433 cldy none 17:00 39 -10 6 103 (ESE) 371 cldy none 18:00 36 -6 3 118 (ESE) 469 cldy none 19:00 35 0 3 122 (ESE) 679 cldy none 20:00 35 1 3 238 (WSW) 943 cldy none 20:59 35 1 5 165 (SSE) 1133 Pt.
