I called Mark and Russet. Mark said to keep an eye on it and, if necessary, we would reset the temps on the Lakeshore readout. At opening it was down to 43%. Mirror covers were not working from command line at first. I turned the key to reset, through manual (and checked that they worked manually), then back to auto and then they worked normally. When releasing the last stop button, and listening to the intermediate level intercom, I did not hear the satisfying release clunk. So after checking that all stop buttons were released (i.e. not lit), I began pressing and releasing each one to make sure they were truly released. This led to the discovery that the stop switch leading to the upper level stairs (ESS1) was not lit but was in fact not released. Visible video feed from the dome was particularly noisy. Jon Brinkmann worked on it during twilight and was able to get a much clearer signal but it still has some dark banding. Once on sky we had fair seeing and clear skies. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was blessedly peaceful, with good to moderate seeing and no problems. I continued work on the Q2 schedule. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 18:25 Echelle 28(-1182) 25 70 -5.6 -4.2 -4.6 -5.6 -5.2 -- 0.8 19:35 Echelle -145(-1352) 16 45 -5.2 -5.0 -5.7 -5.9 -5.3 -- 1.0 22:04 NICFPS -102(9) -59 38 -5.3 -5.8 -6.6 -6.3 -5.3 H 1.8 00:42 Echelle -133(-1356) -81 58 -5.0 -5.5 -6.0 -5.9 -5.1 ND3 1.2 02:37 Echelle -108(-1347) 55 59 -5.5 -5.8 -6.3 -6.4 -5.6 ND3 1.04 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 15:55 26 4 7 275 (W) 244 clear none 16:55 26 0 4 284 (WNW) 252 mstly clr none 17:55 23 -1 4 278 (W) 202 clear none 18:55 23 0 5 266 (W) 277 clear none 19:55 22 0 1 229 (SW) 429 clear none 20:55 22 0 1 253 (WSW) 354 clear none 21:55 22 0 1 105 (ESE) 356 clear none 22:55 23 0 3 253 (WSW) 382 clear none 23:55 22 0 1 96 (E) 384 clear none 00:55 22 0 2 271 (W) 380 clear none 01:55 23 0 4 283 (WNW) 352 clear none 02:55 22 0 6 279 (W) 300 clear none 03:55 21 -1 3 268 (W) 312 clear none 04:55 20 -3 7 18 (NNE) 355 clear none 05:55 20 0 5 51 (NE) 285 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
