I manually set the focus on the telescope. Seeing was very good in IR tonight, around 0.6 arc sec in Ks. 08:25UT Echelle guider froze, had to do a hub startNubs ecam to unfreeze. 2nd half observer had problems with too much data (slitview images) being transfered and backlogging their connection to TUI. I recommended turning the slitviewer off and letting me guide. Seeing got worse in the 2nd half and was typically around 1.2-1.5 arc sec. Finisher-upper: R.McMillan The PU01 observer quit just a few minutes early, giving me a chance to run a brief test of tertiary stability vs. pointing which we didn't have the opportunity to do during the iced-out engineering. Seeing was moderate to poor, and with the moon at highish airmass, APOLLO got almost no returns. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:06 NICFPS -200(174) 108 62 0.4 3.7 2.0 2.2 1.3 Ks 0.63 18:52 NICFPS -125(220) 108 71 1.1 2.2 0.9 1.2 0.9 J 0.6 20:03 NICFPS -125(200) 58 71 0.9 1.1 0.3 0.8 0.7 Ks 0.59 21:54 NICFPS -100(218) -29 48 0.1 0.0 -0.6 -0.0 0.2 Ks 0.7 21:57 NA2gdr -1581(41418) -31 48 0.2 0.0 -0.6 -0.0 0.2 R 1.0 00:00 Echelle -21(-992) -70 61 1.0 1.0 0.3 0.6 1.3 ND2 0.7 03:12 Echelle -23(-1001) -25 69 1.4 1.1 0.4 0.6 1.4 ND2 1.3 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 15:59 38 9 138 clear none 16:59 37 9 124 clear none 17:59 32 8 134 clear none 18:59 34 0 149 clear none 19:59 34 0 124 clear none 20:59 31 6 124 clear none 21:59 33 2 101 clear none 22:59 35 1 132 clear none 23:59 36 4 140 clear none 00:59 33 4 160 clear none 01:59 36 8 135 lt. cirrus none 02:59 34 8 157 lt. cirrus none 03:59 35 10 ?? 177 mstly clr none 04:59 35 11 ?? 136 clear none 05:59 37 17 ?? 49 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
