Seeing was decent until the band of clouds moved in from the west around 23:00. 20:55 After a small slew in field where we had been tracking for almost an hour, pointing seemed to be far off. I checked magnesensor errors and found the ALT errors to be 12-13 arc minutes. We did a few large slews to bring them back down to normal levels and then slewed back to the original field to reacquire. Winds were fairly high (near 30mph) and we were sort of facing into the wind (perhaps contributing to the large errors). Pointing was fine after the slews but we lost about 10 minutes. 4:50 Clouds thickened after 4:30 such that we weren’t getting any data and coupled with some nearby radar returns conditions warranted closing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NM06 D T/U 20:55 21:05 Pointing problems ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 17:49 dis-slit -188( -97) 3 58 5.0 6.6 6.4 5.5 5.2 1.30 00:19 dis-slit -114(-153) -61 47 4.0 3.3 3.8 3.0 3.6 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 31 8 22 24 (NNE) 518 clear none 17:00 34 0 21 11 (N) 434 clear none 18:00 30 4 17 37 (NE) 821 clear none 19:00 26 10 23 21 (NNE) 891 clear none 20:00 31 2 19 16 (NNE) 431 clear none 21:00 31 6 10 11 (N) 385 clear none 22:00 31 5 19 19 (NNE) 412 ptly cldy none 23:00 33 3 24 35 (NE) 355 ptly cldy none 00:00 38 -1 18 66 (ENE) 122 ptly cldy none 01:00 36 0 3 158 (SSE) 85 ptly cldy none 02:00 36 -1 3 167 (SSE) 93 ptly cldy none 03:00 36 -1 4 181 (S) 142 ptly cldy none 04:00 34 -2 2 164 (SSE) 171 mstly cldy none 05:00 35 -3 6 181 (S) 129 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
