This resulted in terrible seeing conditions (2 - 5 arcseonds) in the optical and moderate seeing conditions in the near-IR second half. Seeing was moderate to poor for the APOLLO run. This morning at 0400, a scheduled power outtage for all of Ottero County lasted for about 30 minutes. The generator kicked on after about 30 seconds and tripped a few alrams as well as stopping the telescope drives. Recovery was quick and no downtime will be counted. A variety of engineering tests were run with nicfps second half including not such successful testing of the etalon on the sky. We did not appear to see any troubles related to instrument rotation that were experienced the last 2 nicfps runs however there are still instances when the resets/continuous clears of the chip appear to not happen and background levels slowly build up towards saturation. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:09 dis-slit -331( -34) 35 75 7.0 11.4 10.7 9.6 8.2 - 1.4 01:40 NICFPS -84( 300) 263 72 2.6 2.0 1.9 1.8 2.3 Ks 1.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 58 24 7 224 (SW) 1733 clear none 17:00 55 22 7 240 (WSW) 1548 clear none 18:00 50 21 4 182 (S) 1629 clear none 19:00 45 24 9 87 (E) 2239 clear none 20:00 43 25 19 78 (ENE) 2916 clear none 21:00 42 21 20 84 (E) 3041 clear none 22:00 40 21 16 70 (ENE) 2326 clear none 23:00 36 20 19 84 (E) 2733 clear none 00:00 35 21 18 79 (E) 3132 clear none 01:00 36 22 10 92 (E) 3335 clear none 02:00 37 23 9 90 (E) 3252 clear none 03:00 36 24 12 81 (E) 3356 clear none 04:00 40 24 4 105 (ESE) 2958 clear none 05:00 42 24 5 96 (E) 2465 clear none 06:00 43 24 9 173 (S) 2274 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
