Opened at 18:45 with scattered clouds but no obvious threat. Seeing was poor first few hours and improved as the sky cleared. Switched to SPICAM at 20:20, getting subarc science images. Without the focal reducer AGILE has an extremely different focus. Switching from SPICAM to AGILE equated to almost a +600 micron change in focus; which in turn, corresponds to a significant move to focus the NA2 guider (~25,000 steps). Seeing became very unstable after 5:00 as a warm air mass moved over us. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:58 dis-slit -275(-55) 352 33 7.3 8.7 8.5 8.0 7.5 1.4 21:46 SPICAM -110(145) 5 78 7.2 7.2 7.4 6.1 6.9 0.7 22:30 SPICAM -55(214) 44 47 7.0 6.9 7.2 6.0 6.7 0.7 01:44 AGILE 520(478) 92 13 7.0 6.3 6.7 5.8 6.4 0.7 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 50 24 12 244 (WSW) 1112 mstly cldy none 17:00 47 24 7 215 (SW) 1063 mstly cldy none 18:00 47 24 10 222 (SW) 1221 ptly cldy none 19:00 45 24 10 235 (SW) 1035 mstly clr none 20:00 46 24 6 208 (SSW) 1087 mstly clr none 21:00 45 22 9 251 (WSW) 713 mstly clr none 22:00 44 21 11 268 (W) 822 clear none 23:00 44 21 9 270 (W) 629 clear none 00:00 45 19 11 266 (W) 395 clear none 01:00 44 20 9 263 (W) 404 clear none 02:00 44 20 12 243 (WSW) 398 clear none 03:00 43 23 7 238 (WSW) 505 mstly clr none 04:00 43 23 4 257 (WSW) 566 clear none 05:00 44 13 2 358 (N) 376 clear none 06:00 45 17 2 358 (N) 1003 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
