Seeing was moderate to poor and a bit variable first half of the night. Second half it was moderate to good. Pointing after switching ports tonight was about the same as was seen last evening. However after the tilt correction the observer had no difficulties with pointing and complimented the tracking since she was doing long unguided exposures with few needed manual corrections while observing Venus. The dis-slitviewer hung twice tonight but recovery was quick in both instances. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:37 dis-slit -348( -73) 60 73 8.3 10.9 10.4 9.3 8.7 - 1.3 01:41 dis-slit -90( 88) 311 39 9.6 8.0 8.5 6.9 8.3 - 1.4 04:52 ECHELLE -178( -862) 296 72 8.4 7.4 7.8 5.9 7.2 nd2 0.8 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 51 24 6 280 (W) 1717 clear none 17:00 52 24 6 336 (NNW) 1776 clear none 18:00 49 24 6 350 (N) 1788 clear none 19:00 47 19 11 42 (NE) 1795 mstly clr none 20:00 46 17 12 27 (NNE) 1745 mstly clr none 21:00 47 3 12 12 (NNE) 1064 mstly clr none 22:00 47 11 11 38 (NE) 1542 mstly clr none 23:00 48 11 11 19 (NNE) 1529 mstly clr none 00:00 49 4 15 14 (NNE) 1029 mstly clr none 01:00 49 6 1 107 (ESE) 887 mstly clr none 02:00 49 8 6 123 (ESE) 997 clear none 03:00 48 18 1 146 (SE) 1337 clear none 04:00 47 20 2 228 (SW) 1482 clear none 05:00 46 18 6 179 (S) 1439 clear none 06:00 47 12 11 148 (SSE) 1236 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
