A connection was disfuctional somewhere with AGILE at the beginning of the night. We discovered the media converter behind Nimble was transmitting but the connector on the instrument was not receiving. We initially tried running a new fiber optic cable from the instrument to the intermediate level connector, to no avail. John Brinkman tested various cables and signals finally determining that in fact, the media converter on the instrument was dead. So we removed it and had to resort to the previous coaxial cable setup. Once we got everything connected the first-half observers were able to take cals. All of this happened during bad weather, but John and I (and Fritz on the phone) were working on this for about 3 hours. The echelle quartz lamp suddenly seemed to go out while the second-half observer was taking cals. Several flats had already been taken during checkout and later and the lamp was fine. Investigation of the power supply to the QTH lamp revealed it was not reporting any voltage. Power-cycling it seemed to do the trick. While the storm was rolling through around 1am we had a few power fluctuations. Soon after, all the telescope axes reported a Servo 2 Power Loss on the TUI status window and the truss lamps went out. The mirror covers were also affected, no longer under computer control. I did a manual reset on the covers, issued a tlamps status, and an axis init and everything came back to a normal state. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW07 S T/H 20:00 23:00 Agile converter out ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 67 47 9 191 (S) 380 ptly cldy none 17:00 64 46 5 197 (SSW) 405 ptly cldy none 18:00 60 46 9 255 (WSW) 454 mstly cldy none 19:00 57 47 12 186 (S) 477 cloudy none 20:00 56 47 14 204 (SSW) 567 cloudy none 21:00 56 48 12 201 (SSW) 694 cloudy none 22:00 57 47 15 210 (SSW) 635 ptly cldy none 23:00 56 48 14 187 (S) 949 ptly cldy none 00:00 56 48 10 185 (S) 992 cloudy lt rain 01:00 50 50 14 201 (SSW) 3225 cloudy lt rain 02:00 51 51 11 183 (S) 1225 cloudy rain 03:00 51 50 10 181 (S) 1155 cloudy rain 04:00 51 49 16 202 (SSW) 565 cloudy none 05:00 52 46 12 183 (S) 393 cloudy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
