Was 586. Measured 584.9, 588.3 Avg 586.6. No change made. Early in the evening several computers started to complain about DNS ip address issues. John Brinkman was able to fix the two in the 3.5m Control room however the dataq was not able to be fully restored to a fixed ip address. John believed that two of the dataq boxes on the telescope needed to be restarted before the software would reconnect. So we limped along with only Azimuth telemetry the rest of the night. The discovery that some of these machines were running DNS instead of fixed ips is likely due to the large volume of DNS requests from all the laptops that arrived with the student group. At 20:54 the echelle slitviewer icc crashed and required a power cycle to revive. No other problems with it the remainder of the night. The CU class got data on the comet tonight with the echelle and spicam. This data has been copied over to the Holmes17P shared data directory. Adam was able to get started on some troubleshooting of Nicfps and its ics software tonight. The cloud cover increased after the APOLLO run but we were able to stay open for the rest of the night. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU01 E I/H 20:54 21:00 ecam icc crashed, pwr cycle reqd ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:09 ECHELLE -274(-795) 70 53 8.1 10.7 10.2 8.7 8.6 nd2 1.4 00:43 SPICAM -59( 251) 148 75 8.9 8.4 8.8 7.9 8.4 i 0.7 02:25 dis-slit -130( 5) 92 64 7.7 7.7 8.1 6.9 7.3 - 1.4 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 55 15 14 218 (SW) 657 clear none 17:00 54 16 14 246 (WSW) 768 clear none 18:00 50 15 15 250 (WSW) 1008 clear none 19:00 47 16 14 234 (SW) 1403 clear none 20:00 47 15 15 249 (WSW) 1067 clear none 21:00 48 14 19 246 (WSW) 811 clear none 22:00 49 15 18 273 (W) 892 clear none 23:00 49 15 21 283 (WNW) 916 clear none 00:00 48 15 15 269 (W) 915 clear none 01:00 48 15 13 266 (W) 931 ptly cldy none 02:00 47 15 15 268 (W) 1103 ptly cldy none 03:00 45 15 11 262 (W) 902 ptly cldy none 04:00 46 17 14 278 (W) 889 ptly cldy none 05:00 46 17 14 285 (WNW) 962 ptly cldy none 06:00 46 18 15 299 (WNW) 939 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
