The first home of the tertiary failed to open the clamp, a second worked fine. Subsequent moves of the tertiary worked fine. High winds and dust kept us closed until after 2am. When we did open seeing was moderate during initial focusing but quickly degraded to horrible. Seeing never improved to below 2 arcseconds for the remainder of the night. No other problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:04 D T/H --:-- --:-- M3 Clutch failed to open ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 02:17 dis-slit -331(-382) 48 76 2.9 3.5 3.9 2.8 2.9 - 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 47 22 33 259 (W) 4698 clear none 17:00 48 20 28 253 (WSW) 7368 clear none 18:00 46 19 28 268 (W) 9469 clear none 19:00 43 19 19 264 (W) 6370 clear none 20:00 42 19 30 271 (W) 3984 clear none 21:00 41 20 26 273 (W) 3652 clear none 22:00 39 17 37 273 (W) 5043 clear none 23:00 39 15 27 283 (WNW) 16654 clear none 00:00 39 15 15 278 (W) 2909 clear none 01:00 38 17 14 280 (W) 1764 clear none 02:00 38 18 19 291 (WNW) 1450 clear none 03:00 37 17 18 307 (NW) 1483 clear none 04:00 36 19 16 353 (N) 1635 clear none 05:00 35 20 16 341 (NNW) 1431 clear none 06:00 35 22 12 8 (N) 1402 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
