Was 590.0 no change made The beginning of the night we had clear skies and moderate seeing under windy conditions. By 23:00 the clouds moved in quickly and with wind at the upper limit we closed. We attempted openning again at 02:00 when the clouds became broken and the wind calmed to the upper 20s mph range. Clouds however continued to be a problem for the observer who had quite faint targets and was chasing them at high airmass. At about 02:45 (UT20071017T08:47?) the Azimuth axis halted due to a motor 1 current limit condition. We were pointed to the South West (AZ 322 EL 52). I had the observer stop their exposure while I reinitialized the drives and repointed. The condition repeated again several times on this same object (UT20071017T09:19, and UT20071017T09:22). At this time I checked the azimuth velocities for this part of the sky. Az Vel Scales: 581.65, 585.68 avg 583.67. Was 590.0 changed to 583.6 However, after we got back on this object the motor 1 over current condition again repeated itself (UT20071017T09:52). I instructed my user to find a target in another part of the sky. We pointed to the North East (near azimuth reversal location) but did not see the condition repeat again. Clouds continued to present a real problem for the observers program and they gave up at 05:00. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU04 D T/H 02:45 02:51 AZ Motor 1 Current Limit PU04 D T/H 03:19 03:39 AZ Motor 1 Current Limit PU04 D T/H 03:52 04:00 AZ Motor 1 Current Limit ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- 19:19 AGILE -375(-342) 37 63 9.9 9.7 9.7 8.6 8.5 BG40 1.2 19:27 NA2gdr -5000(8100) 33 64 8.3 9.5 9.6 8.4 8.4 R+nd2 0.9 02:27 dis-slit -204(-184) 216 82 4.6 5.2 5.4 4.8 4.6 - 1.4 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 57 25 24 215 (SW) 1084 clear none 17:00 52 23 21 248 (WSW) 1064 clear none 18:00 50 24 23 225 (SW) 1076 clear none 19:00 47 24 25 221 (SW) 953 ptly cldy none 20:00 47 24 17 222 (SW) 1322 ptly cldy none 21:00 47 22 20 243 (WSW) 1162 clear none 22:00 46 22 24 251 (WSW) 1199 mstly clr none 23:00 46 24 22 235 (SW) 1089 cloudy none 00:00 44 21 26 260 (W) 1137 cloudy none 01:00 42 21 27 276 (W) 1003 mstly clr none 02:00 41 22 24 266 (W) 1003 ptly cldy none 03:00 39 25 20 262 (W) 1263 ptly cldy none 04:00 37 27 26 261 (W) 1535 ptly cldy none 05:00 37 26 22 271 (W) 1772 mstly cldy none 06:00 35 24 28 260 (W) 1446 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
