But since moderate was still unexpectedly good for the east wind we had, I still counted it a plus until it got worse than 1.5 arcsec around 23:00. The second half observers noticed a little trouble with the lampswitch: an XXX appeared in place of the Neon ON/OFF indicator, then resolved itself within a minute. Later lamp commands worked normally, but then I had a failure to close the eyelid for a "telmech cov close" command. Which probably wasn't related, except for the way weird other problems seem to congregate right after lampswitch failures. And yes, I do know this is a new lampswitch. Second half had thin clouds (which did make life difficult in combination with the moon) and moderate to poor seeing. Everything worked well despite a very creditable attempt to crash the DIS slitviewer by the remote observer. The software is noticeable more robust than it was six months ago. I rounded off the night with a major APOLLO milestone: four reflectors in one night! ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:00 SPIcam 125(410) 129 65 8.1 9.68 8.95 8.39 8.6 i 0.75 20:20 SPIcam -125(81) -41 49 5.9 6.48 6.09 6.17 6.1 r 1.2 00:35 DISslit -150(-225) -80 52 3.2 3.19 2.65 2.99 2.9 - 2.1 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:02 50 9 1 359 (N) 566 clear none 17:02 51 8 3 141 (SE) 721 clear none 18:02 48 12 10 84 (E) 515 clear none 19:02 43 12 11 79 (E) 538 clear none 20:02 43 9 12 80 (E) 553 clear none 21:02 42 8 13 66 (ENE) 533 mstly clr none 22:02 41 8 10 76 (ENE) 591 mstly clr none 23:02 39 8 14 72 (ENE) 498 mstly clr none 00:02 37 9 17 75 (ENE) 448 mstly clr none 01:02 40 6 13 85 (E) 563 mstly clr none 02:02 42 5 14 128 (SE) 601 mstly clr none 03:02 39 6 14 114 (ESE) 524 mstly clr none 04:02 37 7 11 109 (ESE) 454 ptly cldy none 05:02 37 8 15 115 (ESE) 431 ptly cldy none 06:02 37 8 20 127 (SE) 458 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
