Apollo had some equipment troubles at the start of their time but they believe they corrected these issues and got some data prior to increasing clouds. Cloud cover and nearby radar returns closed us down for the rest of their time at 0050am The rest of second half we never opened and it started to lightly snow around 2am. My observer gave up for the night around 430am. However prior to giving up he had experimented with nicfps dome flats. He found the most unusual bug in the control software for the instrument. In FS=0 the instrument happily will take exposures of length 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10s however when the user specifies a 9s exposure the instrument freezes after the integration and will not do a readout. The only way to clear the condition was to restart the hub software for nicfps, nicfpsExpose and to issue a nicfps expose init. A problem report explaining the condition in more detail was filed. No downtime was recorded because we were not on the sky at the time. As of 05:30 the snow accumulation was still less than 1/2 inch. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:58 SPIcam -30(-80) 167 78 -0.1 0.5 0.1 0.0 0.0 r 1.42 18:03 NA2gdr -3844(31255) 175 77 0.1 0.5 0.1 0.0 0.1 R+nd2 0.88 19:27 SPIcam -60(-134) 161 55 -1.1 -0.6 -1.0 -0.9 -1.0 r 1.89 00:04 apollo -60(483) 105 43 -1.7 -1.7 -2.3 -2.2 -1.9 - 1.5 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:02 35 20 26 233 (SW) 312 clear none 17:02 33 19 25 278 (W) 326 clear none 18:02 32 18 19 301 (WNW) 346 clear none 19:02 31 19 16 284 (WNW) 475 ptly cldy none 20:02 30 20 13 299 (WNW) 404 clear none 21:02 30 20 18 302 (WNW) 488 clear none 22:02 30 20 11 292 (WNW) 546 ptly cldy none 23:02 30 21 12 268 (W) 626 clear none 00:02 29 21 9 268 (W) 662 ptly cldy none 01:02 28 21 10 245 (WSW) 694 mstly cldy none 02:02 27 22 8 247 (WSW) 691 cloudy lt snow 03:02 27 22 9 237 (WSW) 646 cloudy lt snow 04:02 25 24 4 263 (W) 729 cloudy lt snow, humid 05:02 25 25 8 266 (W) 2394 cloudy lt snow, humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
