I moved the telescope to multiple angles relative to wind during the night. Power problems during the day were persistent enough to run down the battery of the computer room UPS, so the TCC, hub, and all ICCs went down ungracefully. The same power fluctuations also affected the DIS red cryotiger, which went through several warming cycles, never warming above -71 C; darks and flats taken after these incidents look normal, with no sign of contamination. Once the hub was back up and running, DIS, SPIcam, NIC-FPS, NA2 guider, and the echelle slitviewer all needed a kick or two but soon returned good images. The echelle and the DIS slitviewer gave no trouble. The dome UPSs held out through the power dips, so the motor controllers and mirror controllers never saw a problem and didn't need homing or remapping. To avoid further power fluctuations, we ran for the night on generator power. Plans to switch back to utility power were twice foiled by more fluctuations, but we're now below half fuel on the generator and will have to let it rest soon. One of the site's air compressors also went down, affecting our PMSS. It took about an hour to come back up, and then the primary mirror had to be relaxed. Those were all the problems I was aware of, anyway. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 20 16 ?? cloudy lt snow 17:00 20 17 ?? cloudy lt snow 18:00 20 17 ?? cloudy lt snow 19:00 20 16 ?? cloudy lt snow 20:00 20 17 ?? cloudy lt snow 21:00 20 17 ?? cloudy fog 22:00 21 17 ?? cloudy fog 23:00 20 16 ?? cloudy fog 00:00 20 16 ?? 671 cloudy fog 01:00 20 15 ?? 2066 ptly cldy fog 02:00 20 16 ?? 2310 ptly cldy fog 03:00 20 16 ?? 2682 ptly cldy fog 04:00 20 16 ?? 96 ptly cldy fog 05:00 20 16 ?? 790 ptly cldy fog Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
