Adjusted alt and az velocity scales this afternoon Azimuth Measured 578.8946 578.1565 Ave 578.5256 Old value 568.0 Set value (Russet told me to fudge a little closer to old value since telescope was warm) 574.0 Altitude Measured -634.6419 -637.6929 Ave -636.1674 Old value -638.0 Set value -637.0 (again fudged this value due to telescope warm) Again, the PMSS was not happy tonight. The transverse cell was as bad as last night and I could see it in ABC load cells as well. I relaxed the PMSS when I changed over to NICFPS at 22:05, since NICFPS is more sensitve to image motion than DIS. I still saw some image elongation in the AZ direction in the NICFPS images tonight. In the last set SN exposure I noticed field rotation in the slit images over the course of 30 mins. I didn't see anything obvious wrong, the rotator was updating and changing. It was a small rotation of maybe a couple degrees. See dcam images 602-630. The object stayed (mostly) in the slit, although I did have to do a minor correction to bump it back in at about 30 mins. The images from the exposure before this one did not exhibit field rotation (1hr of guiding). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:59 DISslit -475(-154) -22 38 12.4 15.3 14.0 14.7 13.3 -- 1.6 20:39 DISslit -350(-97) -33 34 13.0 14.3 13.2 13.7 12.8 -- 1.4 20:55 DISslit -300(-42) -37 32 13.2 14.2 13.1 13.9 13.0 -- 1.2 22:29 NICFPS -100(510) 49 72 12.8 12.9 12.2 13.1 12.5 Ks 0.61 01:37 DISslit 100(83) 319 44 11.9 11.3 10.8 11.5 11.5 -- 1.0 02:52 DISslit 75(78) 328 53 12.1 11.7 11.1 11.8 12.0 -- 1.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 61 21 4 304 (NW) 434 clear none 17:00 60 15 13 325 (NW) 503 clear none 18:00 59 23 2 273 (W) 479 clear none 19:00 56 25 7 340 (NNW) 598 clear none 20:00 54 21 7 353 (N) 460 clear none 21:00 56 20 3 261 (W) 392 clear none 22:00 56 22 1 158 (SSE) 507 clear none 23:00 54 22 4 180 (S) 430 clear none 00:00 53 24 3 155 (SSE) 467 clear none 01:00 53 22 7 172 (S) 432 clear none 02:00 53 21 8 180 (S) 383 clear none 03:00 54 21 7 209 (SSW) 567 clear none 04:00 54 21 7 204 (SSW) 466 clear none 05:00 54 23 8 233 (SW) 432 clear none 06:00 54 24 7 235 (SW) 454 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
