Tried logging into pod and running 'daily' program, but no effect. So I power cycled the box on the intermediate level. This worked and values resumed reasonable levels. Humidity was fair at sunset, but radar still showed activity to the N of us. There seemed to be a cloud forming just N of Sunspot and I decided to wait a bit since it was still before 12 degree. Opened at 9:05pm. A few clouds in the area on and off with moderate humidity rest of 1st half. 2nd half Observing Specialists: R.McMillan First half got off to a bad start with clouds moving in just before 01:00. Then the APOLLO laser had a serious problem (different from last month's serious problem, which was fixed today). The clouds got thicker, and lightning and radar traces showed up in the basin. I closed the dome, and 15 minutes later we got some light sprinkles. I re-opened the cloud camera when the radar traces dissipated, but then another storm started an impressive lightning show over the basin. It took a while for all the clouds and other nasties to clear out, then we rushed to get some science in before dawn. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:30 NICFPS 0(1630) 238 50 16.1/17.4 190 8 K 1.3 05:04 NICFPS 140(1678) 224 59 14.9/14.8 264 6 J 0.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 20 13 11 233 (SW) 1165 ptly cldy none 17:00 20 13 12 191 (S) 1193 ptly cldy none 18:00 20 13 8 185 (S) 1160 ptly cldy none 19:00 63 53 8 184 (S) 1354 ptly cldy none 20:00 61 51 9 179 (S) 1312 ptly cldy none 21:00 61 51 7 185 (S) 1284 mstly clr none 22:00 61 51 10 188 (S) 1301 mstly clr none 23:00 61 51 5 213 (SSW) 1241 ptly cldy none 00:00 60 51 7 221 (SW) 1365 mstly clr none 01:00 59 50 8 218 (SW) 1346 ptly cldy none 02:00 60 49 10 213 (SSW) 1442 mstly cldy lt rain 03:00 60 50 8 224 (SW) 1341 mstly cldy none 04:00 59 50 4 188 (S) 1396 ptly cldy none 05:00 59 50 6 227 (SW) 1366 mstly clr none 06:00 58 51 4 235 (SW) 1366 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
