It was raining soon after. Rain and/or high humidity until a little after 11pm. Humidity dropped after 11:30 but radar still displayed considerable threats nearby. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Skies were partially clearing at the beginning of second half, but radar showed potential threats nearby. The observer reported that the count levels in her dark images were unusually low. In the pursuit of this puzzle, I rebooted the NIC-FPS ICC and it failed to come up again. It appears to be a serious problem with the computer itself. After multiple tries and a couple of phone calls, I had to declare the instrument unusable. By the time I had a backup program ready, the radar threats had dissipated but the humidity was too high. For the remainder of the night, we had mostly-clear skies and high humidity. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU03 N I/S --:-- --:-- NIC ICC dead ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 66 49 11 262 (W) 389 mstly clr none 17:00 66 50 7 276 (W) 309 ptly cldy none 18:00 66 51 11 235 (SW) 325 mstly cldy none 19:00 60 49 7 225 (SW) 356 cloudy rain 20:00 58 51 2 193 (SSW) 418 mstly cldy rain 21:00 54 45 3 283 (WNW) 324 cloudy lt rain 22:00 51 47 11 78 (ENE) 214 mstly cldy humid 23:00 51 47 12 82 (E) 453 mstly cldy humid 00:00 57 46 1 355 (N) 284 mstly clr none 01:00 56 46 1 254 (WSW) 289 mstly clr none 02:00 54 47 7 183 (S) 284 mstly clr humid 03:00 50 48 5 127 (SE) 325 ptly cldy humid 04:00 52 48 6 190 (S) 356 ptly cldy humid 05:00 52 51 6 195 (SSW) 459 ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
