Around 9pm the clouds had thinned out, and radar threats had mostly moved away. Humidity was still bouncing around in and out of the borderline zone, but I felt like we were safe to open. Humidity backed down and we stayed open the rest of 1st half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: W.Ketzeback Clear skies all of second half with the exception of a brief period with some thin cirrus. Dewpoint split stayed larger than the closure limit for all of the night until we were about to do morning sky flats when it jumped within the range for closure. We did note alot of image elongation in the azimuthal direction tonight that could not be attributed to focus. Perhaps a moth is smeared on the drive surfaces? Seeing was excellent to moderate all evening even with the elliptical images. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:35 DISslit 0(1243) 73 33 13.0/14.7 122 0 - 1.5 01:26 SPIcam 120(1277) 189 77 13.1/12.6 85 1 r 0.7 02:04 NA2gdr -3733(29266)166 48 12.6/12.6 133 7 clear 0.78 02:21 SPIcam 70(1301) 172 48 12.9/12.6 181 2 r 0.75 03:17 SPIcam 20(1240) 193 48 12.7/12.3 258 1 r 0.9 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:00 60 54 3 241 (WSW) 318 mstly cldy none 17:00 60 54 2 226 (SW) 557 mstly cldy none 18:00 59 52 1 213 (SSW) 524 cloudy humid 19:00 60 50 6 279 (W) 460 ptly cldy lt rain 20:00 56 51 7 85 (E) 437 ptly cldy humid 21:00 55 50 7 88 (E) 466 mstly clr humid 22:00 56 49 1 58 (ENE) 480 mstly clr none 23:00 56 48 0 143 (SE) 390 mstly clr none 00:00 54 47 6 86 (E) 313 mstly clr none 01:00 55 48 4 139 (SE) 460 clear none 02:00 55 47 7 125 (SE) 451 mstly clr none 03:00 54 47 3 103 (ESE) 446 clear none 04:00 54 47 1 109 (ESE) 438 clear none 05:00 54 48 8 163 (SSE) 280 clear none 06:00 51 51 11 128 (SE) 473 clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
