George had an engagement he needed to attend to so he took the calibrations and I took the science exposure for him. Fred tried using the focus script for NICFPS again tonight and again, it couldn't find the star. He decided after a few mins of unsuccessful attempts to manually focus. A Relative offset (5 arc sec) from CorMss caused the guider to stop taking images (siad something about offset in the info line, but I missed it, occured around 07:43UT) but not stop guiding (expose and guide buttons still ghosted and stop guiding). hub startNubs gcam fixed the problem and restored my ghosted buttons. The guider seemed to handle Small offsets fine. The next time Mike did the offset, the guider followed it correctly (same 5 arcs sec offset), we didn't see the problem the rest of the night. TUI 1.2b6 bug? When guiding with the NA2 guider the apply button is ghosted out. In TUI 1.2 (running on my laptop) the apply button is non-ghosted. TUI 1.2b6 (and TUI 1.2) bug? Several times tonight when the guider stopped (due to a slew) the red guidestar lock stayed on the guidestar. At other times the red marker went away (as it should). Looking at the guide image an seeing the red cross is not an accurate way to determine if the guider is actually working. Telescope abruptly halted as my observers issued a slew command (11:32:09). Axis stated (TUI) they were drifting although TUI said they were supposedly halted. Telescope did appear to not be moving. I did a quick track mount command for both axis and the rotator, which allowed us to slew again but now it appeared that the pointing might be off (since we couldn't acquire the star). PR submitted with TUI log dump when this happened. No real problems except for the one at the very end of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:34 Echelle -196(386) 16 53 18.0/20.0 221 7 ND1 0.88 21:00 NICFPS 0(1852) -72 31 18.0/19.2 257 5 H 1.0 01:06 CorMass 75(1492) -8 43 17.6/17.5 267 8 Ks 0.9 02:14 NA2gdr -1670(27329) 3 48 17.0/17.1 282 9 R 0.91 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 71 35 3 258 (WSW) 1475 Pt.
