When the observer was setting up on the first science target, the DIS slitviewer started to return images that were all zeroes. I recovered from that quickly by restarting the nubs, but following images showed a lot of dark current, and I couldn't find the right commands to display or set the current temperature for the slitviewer. Finally I started the old slitview program, and the chip cooled back to a normal temperature. This only cost a few minutes of observing time, though several more minutes of hair-pulling. There were also a couple of cases of images where the slitviewer shutter apparently didn't open, but these were intermittent and didn't impede observations. During second half the seeing degraded. but everything worked well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM03 D I/S 21:00 21:07 dcam crash, temp reset ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:27 DISslit -125(1047) 94 57 12.2/15.4 227 17 - 1.08 01:11 NIC-FPS 160(1601) 321 45 11.3/11.3 278 13 J 0.98 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 66 24 27 215 (SW) 2226 ptly cldy none 17:01 68 24 20 191 (S) 2153 ptly cldy none 18:01 62 19 16 204 (SSW) 1988 ptly cldy none 19:01 59 15 13 235 (SW) 1797 ptly cldy none 20:01 55 11 16 235 (SW) 1951 ptly cldy none 21:01 53 10 21 210 (SSW) 1924 clear none 22:01 54 9 11 258 (WSW) 1933 clear none 23:01 53 9 6 306 (NW) 1784 clear none 00:01 53 9 13 280 (W) 1396 clear none 01:01 53 9 14 270 (W) 1589 mstly clr none 02:01 51 8 9 312 (NW) 1680 ptly cldy none 03:01 49 6 12 282 (WNW) 1687 ptly cldy none 04:01 49 6 11 274 (W) 1866 ptly cldy none 05:01 47 7 8 261 (W) 1709 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
