Some of the effects (alot of bounce about a guide location and drifting guide stars) seemed to baffle us. For instance, guiding on a field star that was above and to the right of the boresight caused the guide star to repeatedly drift upwards. A field star to left and below the boresight seemed to cause the star to drift down in the frame. Guide on boresight appeared to work better tonight however still alot of bounce about the boresight could be seen. The remainder of the night went well, we switched to the echelle around 2am. A little after 3 the echelle slitviewer crashed so hard that a power cycle of the icc was required to bring it back to life. Clouds rolled in around 2am and by 4am were quite thick. It cleared again at the start of twilight. We had serious intermittant internet connectivity issues both night and tonight that added a bit of a challenge to observing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- PU03 E I/H 03:10 03:15 ecamera icc crashed, power cycled ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:54 dis-slit -175(1141) 161 76 17.1/19.7 305 7 - 1.06 01:54 Echelle 6(358) 223 81 16.2/16.0 268 4 nd2 0.77 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 66 28 0 247 (WSW) 1023 clear none 17:01 71 30 12 260 (W) 1234 clear none 18:01 69 26 13 276 (W) 1077 clear none 19:01 68 25 9 264 (W) 1247 clear none 20:01 63 24 7 268 (W) 1241 clear none 21:01 63 24 6 278 (W) 1237 clear none 22:01 60 25 1 31 (NNE) 1400 clear none 23:01 62 25 6 328 (NNW) 1309 clear none 00:01 62 24 4 354 (N) 1397 clear none 01:01 61 24 2 259 (W) 1450 clear none 02:01 61 22 3 264 (W) 1364 prtly cldy none 03:01 62 20 2 271 (W) 1336 prtly cldy none 04:01 62 21 5 338 (NNW) 1218 mstly cldy none 05:01 57 20 6 21 (NNE) 1476 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
