There was a dust spike before sunset, but it dropped quickly and we opened in time for twilight flats. At 21:25, there was a rotator overcurrent that went unnoticed for an embarrassingly long time. Fortunately the field rotation was quite slow, so most of the images were still usable and the only time lost was when the rotator was restarted and reslewed. Like previous overcurrents events, this one occurred about 10 minutes after a direction reversal from positive motion to negative motion. As the program changeover approached, azimuth slews started to look very noisy, so I took a few extra minutes to remeasure the velocity scale. Azimuth tracking was fine, however, without the difficulties of last night (but most targets weren't in that part of the sky, anyway). ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW04 S T/H 22:15 22:20 Rotator overcurrent ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:44 SPIcam 25(1347) 217 50 14.3/14.8 261 6 g 0.93 20:45 NA2gdr -3066(29933)218 50 14.2/14.9 260 9 R 0.75 01:11 DIS(blue) 25(1062) 192 67 12.9/13.0 311 12 - 0.91 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 65 23 19 232 (SW) 1953 ptly cldy none 17:01 63 22 17 265 (W) 4293 ptly cldy dust 18:01 63 20 18 277 (W) 2347 ptly cldy none 19:01 61 20 9 266 (W) 3091 ptly cldy none 20:01 57 18 7 267 (W) 2201 ptly cldy none 21:01 58 18 7 264 (W) 1948 ptly cldy none 22:01 57 16 11 288 (WNW) 1781 ptly cldy none 23:01 57 14 17 295 (WNW) 1553 ptly cldy none 00:01 56 14 10 284 (WNW) 1615 ptly cldy none 01:01 56 15 14 306 (NW) 1593 ptly cldy none 02:01 54 13 5 355 (N) 1440 ptly cldy none 03:01 54 13 1 307 (NW) 1356 ptly cldy none 04:01 54 13 2 15 (NNE) 1355 ptly cldy none 05:01 55 13 1 66 (ENE) 1374 ptly cldy none 06:01 53 12 8 23 (NNE) 1326 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
