We saw virga off to our west at sunset but I opened to let my observer get twilight flats. As soon as they were done taking those I decided it prudent to close, as we had clouds to our N and headed this direction. The clouds stuck around for most of the 1st half, then teased us with clearing, although there was still stuff to our N but disappating as it approached us. I finally took the plunge and opened around 23:40 and of course clouds started to appear almost as soon as I opened. Nothing like a 3.5m telescope to attract clouds! We stayed open for an hour until once again the clouds moved in. We again opened at 02:05 after the clouds once again parted. Everything ran smoothly 2nd half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:51 SPIcam -25(1315) -91 29 12.9/12.8 212 5 g' 1.2 23:59 NA2gdr -3652(29347) -92 27 12.9/12.7 184 4 R 0.9 02:11 Echelle -38(145) 55 70 11.6/11.8 225 7 ND1 0.9 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 59 24 9 351 (N) 1277 Cloudy sprinkles 19:01 57 26 1 352 (N) 1340 Mst.
