Stopping the drives (crash button) and re-starting them fixed the problem and it didn't re-appear. It happened to the alt drive and was some sort of controller error. Unfortunately the log that I copied to a text file was accidently not saved. It might have been caused (although I don't know why) by my sending a rot command thru the tcc just after the telescope started a track mount command, although I have never seen this problem before and the drives stopped nowhere near a limit (alt was around 60 deg). NA2gdr focus routine was broken tonight. Dust counts were elevated (3500cts) but fairly level all night, mirror should be CO2 cleaned on Monday by the day staff. I closed the dome at the start of the 2nd half due to dust. Dust levels never dropped below limits for the remainder of the night and a haze could be seen around the moon as well and some dust was appearing on the car windshields outside. The morning twilight TOO program was not carried out due to dust. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:54 NICFPS 375(1811) -74 52 10.1/11.9 261 12 2.12 0.87 20:57 NICFPS 375(1735) 177 53 9.9/10.1 260 18 1.64 0.71 21:30 NICFPS 200(1549) 182 53 10.3/10.0 264 14 1.64 0.65 22:26 NICFPS 125(1467) 190 52 10.0/9.6 265 16 1.97 0.65 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 64 18 15 244 (WSW) 1337 Clear none 17:01 59 14 17 252 (WSW) 1869 Clear none 18:01 57 14 9 261 (W) 2722 Clear none 19:01 54 9 20 269 (W) 3390 Clear dust 20:01 50 9 15 259 (W) 3233 Clear dust 21:01 50 9 17 250 (WSW) 3115 Clear dust 22:01 50 10 20 251 (WSW) 3020 Clear dust 23:01 50 11 20 247 (WSW) 3032 Clear dust 00:01 50 11 13 258 (WSW) 3528 Clear dust 01:01 49 12 23 265 (W) 3678 Clear dust 02:01 48 12 19 279 (W) 3554 Clear dust 03:01 48 11 15 259 (W) 3428 Clear dust 04:01 47 12 15 242 (WSW) 3283 Clear dust 05:01 45 13 13 263 (W) 3401 Clear dust Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
