Despite the difficulties of measuring image quality with objects mostly behind the echelle slit, I was able to do some tests during the period of good seeing that strengthen the evidence for a connection between the tertiary wobbles and the recent image elongation we've been seeing. There was one hard crash of the echelle slitviewer ICC, requiring a power-cycle. The spectrograph exposure continued during the reboot, so no time was lost. Aside from that, we had no troubles. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:51 Echelle 198(361) 134 60 9.9/10.6 272 18 ND2 1.05 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 54 22 28 268 (W) 1141 ptly cldy none 17:01 57 26 25 266 (W) 1327 mstly clr none 18:01 55 14 18 264 (W) 1453 mstly clr none 19:01 53 13 19 222 (SW) 1205 clear none 20:01 50 13 12 272 (W) 1427 clear none 21:01 49 12 17 267 (W) 1474 clear none 22:01 50 13 6 266 (W) 1453 clear none 23:01 50 12 12 264 (W) 1547 clear none 00:01 50 12 10 293 (WNW) 1628 clear none 01:01 49 11 9 272 (W) 1601 clear none 02:01 49 9 10 304 (NW) 1519 clear none 03:01 49 7 12 303 (WNW) 1482 clear none 04:01 48 7 12 297 (WNW) 1561 clear none 05:01 48 6 11 298 (WNW) 1409 clear none 06:01 48 7 11 328 (NNW) 1492 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
