Old value IIm_Scale 13180.0 13012.4 New value IIm_Scale 13206.0 13209.6 Fred did some observations (sciencewise) with NICFPS to check things out and he seemed happy and concluded NICFPS is ready for science. I then switched over to Fastcam to do a couple engineering tasks Bill wanted (limiting magnitude) and the seeing with pressure fans on/off. I started with alpha Comae Bernices (mag 4.32) and took 100fps images (looked good on fastcam at 100fps). Observations started around 00:25 File alphaComaeBernice02 (on FastCam in the My Documents/Fastcam directory) is a 5 minute grab of the star. On Jeppe/home/dembicky alphaComBern_Sky.xwd, Focal, and Status are the TUI grabs Bill requested. File 6CanumVenaticorum01 (Mv 5.01 G8III star), star visible at 100fps, 5 min grab. On Jeppe/home/dembicky 6CanVen_Sky.xwd, Focal, and Status are the TUI grabs Bill requested. File TYC2540-1221-1-01 (Mv 5.98 G5III star), star still visible at 100FPS, dim, 5 min grab. On Jeppe/home/dembicky TYC2540_Sky.xwd, Focal, and Status are the TUI grabs Bill requested. File TYC3021-1662-1-01 (Mv 6.86 G9II star), star still visible at 100FPS, dim, 5 min grab. On Jeppe/home/dembicky TYC3021_Sky.xwd, Focal, and Status are the TUI grabs Bill requested. File TYC2543-908-1-01 (Mv 7.95 G5 star), star is barely visible at 100FPS. I would say we are at a limit. 5min grab. On Jeppe/home/dembicky TYC2543_Sky.xwd, Focal, and Status are the TUI grabs Bill requested. Observations of Fastcam limiting mag ended at 01:00 To do the pressurization fan tests, I used FastCam to collect the image data, since that would give a recording of the seeing in the various fan states. Star uses was 10 Canum Venaticorum (Mv 5.95 G0V star) Test #1 (normal operations, louvers open, press fans off, telex/intex fans on) Focus=25 01:06 File PressTest-Normal01 on FastcamPC, PressTest-Normal_Sky.xwd, Focal, S tatus on Jeppe/home/dembicky Test #2 (louvers closed, press fans off, telex/intexfans on) Focus=25 01:16 Star started jumping around a bit at end of exposure. File PressTest-NormalClosedLouvers01 on FastcamPC, PressTest-NormalClosedLouver_Sky.xwd, Focal,Status on Jeppe/home/dembicky Test #3 (Press fans on, louvers closed, telex/intex fans off), star was jumping around quite a bit (nothing significant on Dataq). It started this during the last exposure as well. Focus=25 01:25 File PressTest-PressClosedLouvers01 on FastcamPC, PressTest-Normal_Sky.xwd, Focal, Status on Jeppe/home/dembicky Test #4 (Press fans on, louvers open, telex/intex fans off) Focus=25 01:35 File PressTest-Press01 on FastcamPC, PressTest-Press_Sky.xwd, Focal, Status on Jeppe/home/dembicky Test #5 (normal operations, louvers open, press fans off, telex/intex fans on) Focus=25 01:43, repeat of test #1 to compare if anything changed in the 30 mins of taking the tests. File PressTest-Normal02 on FastcamPC, PressTest-Normal02_Sky.xwd, Focal, Status on Jeppe/home/dembicky I spent about 30-40 minutes trying to identify SN2006X in M100 for Don York with the Echelle slitviewer. I could identify M100, although it looked a lot different than most all of the images I could find of SN2006X on the web but I could not positively identify where the SN was at. The HII regions vere very bright and it was tough to figure out one of them from a small faint star. Hopefully Guy will have better luck tommorow night. I then went on to some science for F.Hearty with NICFPS. I then mounted SPIcam to do some Throughput measurements (since DIS was on the vacuum pump) Throughput log (data in /export/image/Throughput_060316/) Exposure times: U 120s B 30s V 10s R 5s I 5s Object UT/exp Airmass Filename ------------------------------------------------------------- Bias bias.0001-0005 Focus focus.0006-0008 PG1323-086 11:23 1.732 PG1323U.0009 11:26 1.760 PG1323B.0010 11:27 1.763 PG1323V.0011 11:28 1.769 PG1323R.0012 11:29 1.776 PG1323I.0013 PG1525-071 11:33 1.324 PG1525U.0014 11:36 1.328 PG1525B.0015 11:38 1.330 PG1525V.0016 11:39 1.331 PG1525R.0017 11:40 1.332 PG1525I.0018 PG1528+062 11:42 1.139 PG1528U.0019 11:46 1.142 PG1528B.0020 11:47 1.144 PG1528V.0021 11:48 1.146 PG1528R.0022 11:50 1.146 PG1528I.0023 PG1633+099 11:52 1.087 PG1633U.0024 11:56 1.086 PG1633B.0025 11:58 1.086 PG1633V.0026 11:59 1.086 PG1633R.0027 12:00 1.086 PG1633I.0028 PG1657+078 12:02 1.103 PG1657U.0029 12:05 1.103 PG1657B.0030 12:06 1.104 PG1657V.0031 12:08 1.104 PG1657R.0032 12:09 1.104 PG1657I.0033 Vflat 2s Vflat.0034 - 0038 Uflat 24s Uflat_test.0039 240s Uflat_test.0040 - 0044 Bflat 10s Bflat.0045 20s Bflat.0046 - 0050 Rflat 2s Rflat.0051 1.5s Rflat.0052 - 0056 Iflat 1.5s Iflat.0057 1s Iflat.0058 - 0062 Throughput data burned to CD and archived here at APO. I believe I got all of the assigned engineering tasks completed, although the instrument blocks really should be done correctly during the next engineering run. They should be fine in the mean time. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:12 NICFPS 125(1237) 59 68 4.9/5.7 287 17 H 0.9 00:17 Fastcam 25(1855) 55 66 4.2/4.5 283 13 none - 01:56 Echelle -10(-155) 317 68 4.3/4.1 290 22 ND2 0.8 02:45 NICFPS 125(1156) 96 66 3.8/3.6 272 21 Ks 0.7 04:08 SPIcam 25(901) -44 38 3.4/3.0 270 19 V 1.0 04:16 NA2gdr -3750(29250) -46 36 3.5/3.0 278 22 clear 1.0 05:12 Echelle -13(-147) 23 48 3.1/2.8 267 12 ND2 0.9 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 48 18 24 270 (W) 2498 Pt.
