The wind kissed the limit a few times, and so did the dust, but we got through it without trouble by adjusting fans and pointing away from the wind. Changing the NA2 instrument while the echelle was observing turned out to be a bad idea even though I'm sure it has worked all right before. Other excitement included finding NIC-FPS blown a good 8 feet across the dome, and mirror covers failing to open properly once (but they worked on the second command). The twilight planetary observations were fun and successful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:47 DISslit 25(729) 44 61 4.1/4.8 317 16 - 1.4 06:19 NICFPS 50(747) 69 49 -6.2/-5.8 5 9 H2-2.25 1.6 * * The dome shutters were closed to 8 inches, so this measurement was diffraction-limited. ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 42 -3 16 283 (WNW) 666 mstly cldy none 17:01 42 -4 20 276 (W) 712 mstly cldy none 18:01 41 -6 17 283 (WNW) 696 mstly cldy none 19:01 39 -4 9 315 (NW) 1136 mstly cldy none 20:01 34 0 9 21 (NNE) 2580 ptly cldy none 21:01 33 -1 14 15 (NNE) 2941 ptly cldy none 22:01 32 -6 19 13 (NNE) 2581 ptly cldy none 23:01 31 -10 16 14 (NNE) 2202 ptly cldy none 00:01 30 -8 16 48 (NE) 2506 mstly clr none 01:01 29 -12 16 20 (NNE) 1453 mstly clr none 02:01 26 -14 26 19 (NNE) 700 mstly clr none 03:01 23 -2 24 64 (ENE) 2155 clear none 04:01 27 -14 11 38 (NE) 175 clear none 05:01 24 -13 3 20 (NNE) 343 clear none 06:01 21 -10 8 4 (N) 604 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
