We were delayed in getting going on the sky because off what we thought was a slitviewer hardware problem, but turned out to be wetware; all of us had failed to notice that the instrument setup was wrong. We got going right at the end of twilight, so no time was officially lost. The clouds thickened ever so gradually throughout the night. The observer kept struggling until 05:30, but I estimated that several hours of that time were useless due to clouds. The only actual equipment problem was a failure of the eyelids-closed sensor, which has been acting up recently. I had to close the covers manually for the observers to re-do their cals, but after that the sensor worked normally and I was able to resume automatic control. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:43 DISslit 60(742) 240 51 3.4/3.5 260 7 - 1.4 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 5 12 251 (WSW) 1062 mstly clr none 17:01 39 3 6 251 (WSW) 1001 mstly clr none 18:01 36 2 5 251 (WSW) 1155 cirrus none 19:01 38 1 7 267 (W) 1150 cirrus none 20:01 39 1 6 269 (W) 883 cirrus none 21:01 40 0 13 265 (W) 1269 cirrus none 22:01 38 2 7 259 (W) 1538 cirrus none 23:01 39 4 12 260 (W) 1456 ptly cldy none 00:01 40 0 11 258 (WSW) 817 ptly cldy none 01:01 38 1 10 266 (W) 955 ptly cldy none 02:01 39 2 13 276 (W) 946 ptly cldy none 03:01 39 2 19 281 (W) 885 ptly cldy none 04:01 40 4 20 275 (W) 924 mstly cldy none 05:01 39 4 13 270 (W) 944 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
