Then the skies cleared and seeing was around an arcsecond for much of the first half. There was one crash of the dcamera but recovery took just 2 minutes so no loss of time was counted. Second half was mostly smooth however I did see some minor examples of the boresight moving by itself as described previously by Jack in PR#529 where ctrl-click would not center on the boresight and the red and blue crosses in the images would grow farther and farther apart. The problem finally reached a point where the star was drifting an unacceptqable rate away from the slit for the observer. After several failed tries to get back to a normal mode I noted that the ecam image was ever so slightly subframed along the left edge of the field. (see proc-e1850.fits to proc-e1856.fits). The problem corrected itself once images were returned to full frame mode. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PU03 E I/S 05:05 05:35 Software bug in ecam sub-framing ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:22 dis-slit -350(-669) 140 75 -4.9 -1.9 -3.1 -3.1 -4.3 - 1.51 21:24 dis-slit -50(-339) 44 48 -1.9 -2.7 -3.4 -2.9 -2.0 - 1.11 00:13 Echelle -156(-1290) 182 80 -2.6 -2.8 -3.5 -3.3 -2.7 nd2 1.0 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16:01 29 11 5 102 (ESE) 440 clear none 17:01 25 13 16 77 (ENE) 497 clear none 18:01 23 12 11 88 (E) 562 mstly clr none 19:01 22 12 9 110 (ESE) 701 mstly clr none 20:01 29 5 13 148 (SSE) 357 mstly clr none 21:01 28 4 14 142 (SE) 342 clear none 22:01 29 4 13 128 (SE) 251 clear none 23:01 29 4 19 137 (SE) 256 clear none 00:01 27 5 12 114 (ESE) 294 clear none 01:01 27 4 16 134 (SE) 365 clear none 02:01 27 4 12 113 (ESE) 372 clear none 03:01 27 3 10 110 (ESE) 369 clear none 04:01 28 3 13 125 (SE) 433 clear none 05:01 28 5 10 136 (SE) 447 mstly clr none 06:01 27 14 10 136 (SE) 624 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
